“Sandy” is the ideal family beach house. We spent much of our youth on the gulf coast, so we know what families look for in a beach home. We offer a private pool, outdoor hot & cold shower, comfortable beds, and enough sit-down dining and sleeping space for 10 (huge dining table). Our beautiful home has stunning gulf views from the front and beach forest views from the back. Our feet never hit the pavement since we are just a few steps from the gulf. Our three screened-in porches are a bird watcher’s paradise. Sea turtles, the endangered beach mouse, and other diverse wild life thrive here. Bottle Nose Dolphins are almost a daily site, and during certain times of the year, the famous Blue Angels practice their air shows in our view. The adjoining gulf side neighborhoods provide us with a safe place to ride bikes, and we are a short sand trail walk to a restaurant, grocery, and liquor store. Our guests will never want to leave this perfect beach house. The main house upstairs includes a queen bedroom with private bathroom and a screen porch; the sea turtle room with two adult-friendly twins; and a day room that converts to a private bedroom with locking, acoustical accordion doors (the two adult-friendly twins can be joined). Sandy also includes a second component: a separate guest cabin on the ground level. The cabin makes for an ideal suite for a couple or a hangout for those surly teenagers. The cabin includes a private queen bedroom with screened-in porch, a full bathroom, and a day room with two comfy twin beds and kitchenette (French doors make the day room private). Wanting to spoil our guests a little, we also include these other amenities: an ice maker machine, three beach bikes, beach umbrellas, a big beach cart, and well-stocked, quality kitchen utensils. Our kitchen has a gas range and a large quartz counter top with bar stools for fellowship. Our on-demand hot water system keeps those showers hot for all in the group. For our hi-tech generation, Sandy is equipped with five flat screen tvs and hi-speed Internet with free WiFi. Sandy is the best family beach house in Fort Morgan!

Absolutely everything about our stay was perfect! Check-in was the easiest we have ever had and every amenity was better than described. My husband and I stayed a week with our daughter and family. Wonderful Family Trip

We just returned from a week at Sandy, our 2nd year, and I can't say enough nice things about this place. Sandy is thoughtfully stocked with kitchen items, plenty of soft towels, games, etc. The most thoughtful items are the beach wagon, which is a lifesaver with carrying beach items across the sand, and the ice maker, which is perfect for filling the cooler. We can't wait for our next visit.

Family Getaway

Our stay at Sandy was wonderful! We especially enjoyed the pool with our grandchildren! The place was larger than it seemed in the pictures and the 5 completely separate sleep areas were appreciated leaving privacy for the adults! The view was excellent. There's a wide, full lot view of the ocean on each side! We could enjoy the ocean view and crashing waves sound from the front porch and pool! And the ocean feels close to you from this location. The 3 full baths inside, in addition to the outside shower stalls, as well as the beach buggy/beach items made the stay pleasant. It was a vacation to remember!

Sandy was inspired by my husband's family beach house designed by an architect from Mobile in the 1950s. My husband took design elements from this family beach house as a model for our house. Sandy's modern architecture combines concrete, stainless steel, cedar, pine, and Ipe (a Brazilian hardwood about as hard as concrete) to make a beautiful, masculine, powerful statement. Exposed construction materials emphasize both its strength and beauty.

Why they chose this property

First came the lot. We found the lot that had everything we were looking for. See Unique Benefits below for an explanation.

What makes this property unique

Storm surge is a reality here, so building back from the beach a little onto some of the highest elevation on the peninsula protects us and positions us to having a really great view of the beach and our lovely adjoining neighborhood. Sandy sits at the dead end of a little road on a water access point--so the beach is JUST RIGHT THERE. We have the best of both worlds here at Sandy: a house that sits on the edge of pristine beach wilderness and a location near the town center. We never have to drive our car when we are here; we either walk or ride bikes wherever we desire to go. We live in harmony with some very special wildlife, including the sea turtle and beach mouse, yet we walk a short beach trail to a well-stocked marketplace that provides us with all that we need. If we do choose to drive somewhere, we are an easy, 15-minute drive to all the chain places (Rouses, Publix, Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc). And though we are also this short drive to some famous festivals-- including Shrimp Fest and the Hangout Festival--we find ourselves being totally grounded by our therapeutic paradise here at Sandy.
