Beautiful modern architecture walking distance from the beach
Nick and Linda are fantastic hosts and their beach house in Portsea is beautifully built, well appointed with everything you need and very conveniently located walking distance to multiple beaches and a stones throw to the Portsea Hotel.
The house is very large with multiple bedrooms, living spaces and entertaining areas and can easily accomodate a large group. The kitchen is very well setup for cooking. We stayed for a long weekend with another family and had a fantastic time, even having a couple of dips in the heated pool.
We loved Portsea Shingle House and look forward to staying again.

About the host
Your host
We are a family of six and this is our holiday home. We've always been taken with the natural beauty and calm of this special spot. We worked with architects and landscapers to make the most of the location, and we're happy to share it with guests like you. We hope you'll find it as peaceful and restorative as we do.
Why they chose this property
Located in the tranquil setting of Portsea, our architect-designed family home is the perfect place for those looking to unwind.
The house harmoniously integrates with its natural surroundings, enveloped by the sculpted trunks and sprawling canopies of Moonah trees. These trees not only characterize the garden but also seamlessly blend the outdoor beauty into our indoor living spaces.
Space is abundant in our three-level home, designed to give everyone room to breathe. The layout boasts five bedrooms, and among them is a master suite complete with its own private bathroom. For guests needing to work or desiring a quiet corner for reading, the house offers practical spaces like a large study and an office.
Art fills our home in a way that enhances rather than overwhelms, reflecting the balanced fusion of modern amenities and natural charm. For more energetic relaxation, we offer a large rumpus room featuring a table tennis table—perfect for kids to be kids, while adults find their own corner to relax.
Stepping outside, you'll find various spots in the garden to simply 'be.' Whether it's gathering around the firepit as evening falls or enjoying our elevated, heated swimming pool at any time, outdoor relaxation is just a step away. Plus, if you're returning from a day at nearby Shelley Beach, an outdoor shower awaits for a quick, refreshing rinse.
Despite the seclusion, you're never far from local attractions. A short walk will lead you to the beach, cafes, and charming shops in both Portsea and Sorrento, catering to both adventurers and those looking to relax. And adding to the sense of seclusion, our home is on a dead-end street, minimizing traffic and distractions.
Our aim is for this home to serve as a backdrop for you to recharge, refocus, and rediscover what truly matters. We believe this special place can be a meaningful part of your own journey.

Situated in Portsea, this home is a well-crafted architectural space that harmonizes luxury with practicality. Clad in Alaskan white cedar shingles, its distinctive exterior sets the tone for the interior. The multi-level layout features high-quality construction materials like American oak veneer joinery, natural black slate flooring, and exposed timber beams. With amenities such as two freestanding fireplaces, a professional-grade kitchen, and a double garage, the home effectively marries comfort and functionality.
