Was sent email saying WiFi password was in book on table no WIFI.
Owner said there was new washing machine.
No washing machine.
Spent one night out of 6 . Called owner asked for refund
Absolutely amazing. The views of the Black Mountains are like none we’ve ever seen. Clean air, quiet, and serene. Lots of wildlife and amazing late June lightning bugs at night. The blue house was perfect for our family of 4. We hope to be back soon!
Really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and very comfortable.
We loved being off the beaten path and the property is just so beautiful.we drove the blue ridge Parkway north one day and south the next.we hiked to two waterfalls that were close by. Found some neat shops in Burnsville and spruce pine.we woke up to birds singing and turkeys gobbling.the knob is as picturesque as anywhere in North Carolina. We highly recommend a visit!!

Awesome remote property; cabin just OK
Two keys you should know before you book:
- There's no Wifi as advertised. We were told apologetically it had been cancelled. There's also no cell service at the cabin itself (there's a little service up on top of the hill, a 10-minute walk away)
- The cabin has a mice problem (not horrendous but annoying)
With that said, it otherwise had everything we needed and the property was exquisite. It's a slow 10-minute drive down a gravel road off the parkway, but if you're going for remoteness, this place is unbeatable. Right next to Crabtree Falls and within 45 minutes of numerous hikes and waterfalls in the Mt. Mitchell and Linville areas.

GREAT TRIP!!
Was an outstanding trip. First Time I have stayed Mountain Laurel Retreat and I enjoyed it.
I stated in the Blue Cabin which was great, extremely clean, well furnished.
I am not sure who loved everything the most, my dogs or myself. The scenery was incredible.
While I could have stayed on the property the entire time, I did make a few trips up the Blue Ridge Parkway but felt that I was coming home whenever I came back to the Cabin.
I am already planning my next trip back to Mountain Laurel Retreat!!

Amazingly Peaceful and Beautiful
Oh, what an incredible place to escape to for peace, quiet and tranquility! The forest and the creek set the scene for the cottage. It is so warm and inviting, cozy and comfortable plus it has everything you need. The porch allows you to soak up all the solitude as well as the observation deck which is a huge treat for taking in all the mountain views and wild flowers. Our host was wonderful about answering questions and making us feel welcomed! Looking forward to another trip soon! Hope you get a chance to experience this little of heaven!

Red House, not Blue!
Due to hot water issues, we ended up staying at the Red House at the same Mountain Laurel Retreat. This was truthfully a retreat and we had tons of privacy deep in the woods. The area was beautiful and we made several trips to the knob. The Red House was very comfortable and we loved our stay. No TV made the trip even better for us as we could totally disconnect from the outside world. There was internet but we hardly used it. The house was about 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and close to Crabtree Falls and Little Switzerland. A little over an hour drive from Asheville. We would love to return.

Hidden gem nestled on a mountain
The owners could not have been more hospitable. We made a decision the day of to come, and they welcomed us as we pulled up, making sure everything was sound. The property is magical. The lookout at the top of the mountain is outstanding with tons of land to roam just within their property itself - not to mention it's ideally located off of the blue ridge parkway which give you access to the most incredible hikes and viewpoints. We drove a short hour drive into Asheville for one afternoon but could've stayed up on the mountain forever. We hiked mount Mitchell, craggy gardens, linville falls and Crabtree falls. We wish we had more time because the options and beauty are endless.
The blue cabin is very quaint and has all of the basic necessities. No cell phone and no tv but having wifi was a nice touch so that we could stay in touch with home but not be too dependent. You don't need any of that anyway with the mountains around you.
I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice vacation away into nature and beautiful views.
