About this property
Cozy Treehouse By Mt. Mitchell Golf Course & Fishing
“Mama said we had to let those rooms out...”
-Forrest Gump
So we’re inviting you to enjoy our cabin as much as we do!
The Treehouse is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin nestled in the trees in the South Toe River Valley of Burnsville, NC just minutes from fresh water fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Enjoy some of the best hiking, golfing, and scenery in Western North Carolina. Of course, there’s also a lot to be said for porch sitting, and relaxing at night by a crackling fire. Luckily, we have that too!
Staying at the Treehouse has all the best aspects of staying in that cozy cabin in the woods, but with all the conveniences you need to maintain the creature comforts of home. When you step out onto the oversized deck you are surrounded by the natural landscape of beautiful Western North Carolina, with no major roads, noisy neighbors or obstructive views, instantly drawing you into the sights, sounds, and smells (ahhh the smells!) of the valley. Pour yourself a beer or glass of wine and grab an adirondack; you are staring at Mt. Mitchell, the tallest peak East of the Misssissippi River! Grill out and dine on the deck...when it cools down, cozy up in front of the stone fire place, and when you’re plum tuckered from too much fun & relaxation, snuggle into some of the comfiest bedding you’ve ever slept in; there’s no night’s sleep like a night sleeping in the Mountains. On a morning or evening walk it’s not uncommon to see deer in the meadow right above the property, and of course, we’re only a hop from the Golf Course, a skip from the beautiful South Toe River (complete with numerous waterfalls), and a jump from the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway!
Asheville is only an hour away with some of the most amazing restaurants, breweries and live music as well as the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn.
*Note: Due to Hurricane Helene there are a few closures in the area (including Mt. Mitchell Golf Course) but most of the trails, waterfalls and roads have re-opened and the town is open and active! When staying here, go support the town when you have an opportunity!

About the host
Hosted by James McKeever

Welcome to our Treehouse! We are James & Cameron McKeever. We live full time in Ozona, Florida, a small coastal city on the West coast of Florida near the Clearwater Beach area. Throughout our travels of the US, we have discovered and hold true to the belief that these are the best two places a person can possibly find! We try to spend as much time at the Treehouse as we can, and it is truly our second home, not just a rental. We only hope you enjoy staying in our home as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
We found the Treehouse while visiting the area with friends who also had property in the South Toe River Valley. Out of the five or six properties we looked at, this was the first and only I (Cameron) needed to see. When we walked in, it felt exactly like my Grandfather’s cabin we used to stay in growing up as a kid. We had the greatest memories of that little cabin in the woods, and couldn’t wait to make our own. With James surrendering to the fact that there’s simply no competition for fond childhood memories, we bought it in 2005, and over the past several years not only have we put our blood, sweat, tears and hearts into it (we just call it ‘good mojo’), but we have fallen head over heels in love with the South Toe Valley for it's nature, rivers and art, Asheville for it's music and vibe and wonderful Burnsville for it's dining, brewery, culture, events and community!
Leaving is always a heartbreak!

What makes this property unique
The house is away from roads and very private, with a large open deck nestled in the trees, and view of Mount Mitchell. Inside amenities include modern appliances and a fully stocked kitchen, HVAC, comfortable bedding, a newly updated bathroom & stacked stone fireplace.
Open living room has a wall of windows and brings the outside in, and the dining table has a view. There is a small tv but you won't need it :)
Feels like a cozy cabin in the woods (I mean...it is) but with all the modern conveniences!
