“Mama said we had to let those rooms out...”

So we’re inviting you to enjoy our cabin as much as we do!

The Treehouse is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin nestled in the trees in the South Toe River Valley of Burnsville, NC just minutes from fresh water fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Enjoy some of the best hiking, golfing, and scenery in Western North Carolina. Of course, there’s also a lot to be said for porch sitting, and relaxing at night by a crackling fire. Luckily, we have that too!

Staying at the Treehouse has all the best aspects of staying in a cozy cabin in the woods, with all the conveniences you need to maintain the creature comforts of home. When you step out onto the oversized deck you are surrounded by the natural landscape of beautiful Western North Carolina, with no major roads, noisy neighbors or obstructive views, instantly drawing you into the sights, sounds, and smells (ahhh the smells) of the valley. Pour yourself a beer or glass of wine and grab an adirondack; you are staring at Mt. Mitchell, the tallest peak East of the Misssissippi River. Grill out and dine on the deck, when it cools down, cozy up in front of the stone fire place, and when you’re plum tuckered from too much fun & relaxation, snuggle into some of the comfiest bedding you’ve ever slept in; there’s no night’s sleep like a night sleeping in the Mountains. On a morning or evening walk it’s not uncommon to see deer in the meadow right above the property, and of course, we’re only a hop from the Golf Course, a skip from the beautiful South Toe River (complete with numerous waterfalls), and a jump from the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway!

Asheville is only an hour away with some of the most amazing restaurants, breweries and live music as well as the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn.

Treehouse Rest and Relaxation!!!
We had a lot of rain and wind gusts but that didn't bother us at all! We spent 1 day in our PJs playing games ...we cooked out and sat on the deck listening to music and taking in all the beautiful scenery around us! Definitely God's Country! We can't wait to return!

Beautiful View and peaceful cabin
Everything as advertised. Natural lighting woke us up every morning and you could hear the nearby river. Great location close to nature and amazing small town shopping. Even though the weather was colder than we planned it gave us more time in cabin. James is an excellent host that is very responsive and full of info. Amazing stay.

This property is well kept and nicely furnished. The location is private and picturesque! There is a gas furnace and fireplace that kept us quite comfortable. We would highly recommend this rental.

Heavenly Honeymoon
My husband and I had the most wonderful honeymoon stay at the "Tree House" cabin. The views of Mt. Mitchell from the mountain-facing windows and balcony were absolutely breathtaking. The owner was incredibly helpful and responsive, making our experience even more enjoyable. The Tree House provides a cozy cabin experience with all the comforts of home. The oversized deck immerses you in the natural beauty of Western North Carolina, offering tranquility without the noise of major roads or neighbors. You can't beat the view of Mt. Mitchell, the tallest peak East of the Mississippi River. Don't forget to bring some firewood, you won't regret it. The cabin's bedding is incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep in the mountains. On your morning walks, we saw several deer in the meadow above the property. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect honeymoon getaway.

About the host

Hosted by James McKeever

Host profile image
Welcome to our Treehouse! We are James & Cameron McKeever. We live full time in Ozona, Florida, a small coastal city on the West coast of Florida near the Clearwater Beach area. Throughout our travels of the US, we have discovered and hold true to the belief that these are the best two places a person can possibly find! We try to spend as much time at the Treehouse as we can, and it is truly our second home, not just a rental. We only hope you enjoy staying in our home as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We found the Treehouse while visiting the area with a friend who also had property in the South Toe River Valley. Out of the five or six properties we looked at, this was the first and only I (Cameron) needed to see. When we walked in, it felt exactly like my Grandfather’s cabin we used to stay in growing up as a kid. We had the greatest memories of that little cabin in the woods, and couldn’t wait to make our own. With James surrendering to the fact that there’s simply no competition for fond memories, we bought it in 2005, and over the past several years not only have we put our blood, sweat, tears and hearts into it (we just call it ‘good mojo’), but we have fallen head over heels in love with the South Toe Valley, and Asheville. Leaving is always a heartbreak.

What makes this property unique

House is away from road and private with huge open deck nestled in the trees, and view of Mount Mitchell. Inside amenities include new appliances, new HVAC, new bedding & new fireplace. Open living room with wall of windows brings the outside in. Feels like a cozy cabin in the woods but with all the modern conveniences.
