Mælstrøm End is a tranquil paradise in one of the most remote & beautiful parts of Aotearoa NZ. On this 35ha property you get great views over Golden Bay, Farewell Spit & Old Man Rock. It is only 5 mins drive from world-class Wharariki Beach. You may be accompanied by the friendly goats or miniature donkeys on your rambles around the farm. There are also tame Muscovy ducks, chickens, cats & a giant friendly white wolf, as well as 50 cows. You'll get your own cabin with a deck & private use of the bathroom, which is in the main house.

Beautiful, cosy and close to Wharakiki

Such a lovely place to stay if you are over that side of Golden Bay, very close to lots of incredible walks and beaches. Highly recommend staying here

The location was perfect for our purpose, we wanted to stay near farewell spit to see the takahe. The hosts were very friendly, nice animals on the property and good views in general.It wasn't till we got there we realised the bathroom was in their house, which isn't the kind of thing we would have booked, being more private people. In our opinion it's a bit overpriced for what it is.

Hi Ngaire, It was nice to have you stay, you were very considerate guests. We're sorry that the place didn't meet your expectations. The listing does state that there is a shared bathroom - guests have exclusive use of the bathroom but it is in the main house. Our pricing is based on the cost of a similar cabin at the nearby campgrounds and we have not increased it in almost 3 years of operation, however the final price varies by booking platform as their fees differ. all the best, Sea & Karl

An amazing stay!

One of our favorite places that we stayed on our three week honeymoon in NZ. So close to Wharariki Beach and Sea gave us amazing advice of where to go and best way to get great views - and was my favorite part of New Zealand. We’re so grateful for the amazing hospitality and highly suggest yall book this place sooner rather than later! Thanks again for making our experience amazing!

We both work from home, Sea as an environmental scientist and Karl as a UX Designer. We also run our mini farm, and are developing our land into an eco community. We are passionate about the environment, and love music and board games.
