We had a fabulous time! It was a trip with extended family to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday and she says it's her favorite family trip we have taken because it was so peaceful and relaxing. There were so many fun things for the kids to enjoy outside and we loved how secluded the property was. We had fires every night, enjoyed hiking and the different swings and hammocks and all the great seating outside. The photos don't do the house justice, if we didn't live so far away we would buy it! Beds were comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen was well outfitted and it was easy to cook meals for 16 people. The downstairs room was so adorable and the kids just loved all the bunks. We hope to come back again!

Extended family getaway

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful home and retreat. The expanse and beauty of the property absolutely exceeded expectations. The wild rasberries, humming birds, and visiting deer were an added bonus. Hot tub was great, beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-equipped and impressive. Recommend 4 wheel drive for the unpaved drive.

Great family getaway

Amazing property with lots of activities for a family getaway. Think twice about coming in a 15 passenger van. Not the ideal vehicle for the steep mountain road.

Great for family time

We had a lovely time at the Cabin. Big enough for multiple families to enjoy. Kitchen is very well stocked with all items you might need. The outdoor firepit, rec area and decks provide multiple areas to enjoy the outside and relax. We loved the hiking and walking up the driveway for exercise each day. Fun things to do in the area; tubing, gem stone mining, excursions to Bryson City.

Full of adventures

Our family had a fun 6 day stay at the cabin. After figuring out how to negotiate the long, steep, and curvy gravel driveway when we first got there, we were very pleased with what awaited us at the top. The cabin was everything as described; the grandkids had fun sleeping in the bunkbeds in the play room downstairs, as well as the outdoor swings and games. The adults enjoyed the upstairs and the great outside amenities, including the fire pits and hot tub. Most of all, the two abandoned mines were enjoyed by all.

Beasley Mine Awesomeness

First and foremost the beds are super comfortable. The entire family commented on good sleeping. All activities pictured in the house were great. The host was super fast with communication and we even explored the mine. Great Kitchen, grill, etc. Highly recommend this place. The best part is that the owners use this place which usually means it has all the little things you need. The pictures don't do it justice.

Paradise Found!

From the moment we drove up to the lodge, our expectations were exceeded, and it only went up from there! Based off the pictures and previous reviews, we had high hopes for this property and, amazingly, it was even more than we had imagined. Our family of 17 had plenty of room to spread out, but also so many opportunities to get together and bond- like hikes, exploring the mines and caves, playing ping pong tournaments in the one of a kind kids’ zone (fusbal, air hockey and shuffle board!), s’mores roasting by one of the multiple fire pits, and so much more. If you are looking for an action packed family escape that appeals to all ages, or even just a relaxing getaway to disconnect and bond with family, the Lodge at Beasley Mine is it, and then some!

Second Visit to LBM with Old Friends

This is the second time in 4 years our pack of friends and kids have stayed at LBM. After our last visit we kept talking about our memories there and how there is so much to do not only at the Lodge but around the area that we decided late last year to just book another trip. From the trails to the hot tub to the comfortable beds we were definitely happy with our decision. Kids are all teens now and love the place. White water rafting and golf were on the itinerary along with BBQ in town and a couple breweries. The air was cool the last couple nights and so we enjoyed the fire pits and hot tub. Loved the whole stay and if you’re looking for a place to relax and/ or adventure for a wide range of interests for people in your group then this is the place.

A mountain-top experience worthy of your time and expense!

The Lodge @ Beasley Mine is the kind of place you will never forget! From the moment you walk through the front door, you can tell that the owners have made every conceivable effort to not only make you feel at home, but to give you the kind of getting-away-from-it-all experience you're longing to achieve. This place is the antithesis of the once-and-done vacation spot! We've been twice now and the entire family can't wait to go back again and again! That fact alone will, hopefully, give you the impetus you need to make the trip to Franklin, NC to see this amazing property! In case you're wondering, the pictures and words describing this cabin do not do it justice. Go experience LBM for yourself! You'll be glad you did!

Wonderful & Relaxing Vacation Stay

We had a wonderful time at The Lodge! From the game room to the fire pit, the jacuzzi, the endless outdoor activities, the two living rooms (one with full gaming selections) to the wall in showers, jetted tub to the super comfortable beds and the two balconies, all of it! The decor was beautiful. Every single thing about the place was inviting and completely intentional. No details were missed! The kids truly enjoyed the s’mores by the fire pit. We enjoyed the views and all the extra love put into the cabin and the surround grounds. When I say nothing was forgotten, I mean nothing was forgotten. This cabin was all inclusive with every needed item, every cozy blanket, every type of pillow, even a yummy ice making machine! We also enjoyed reading the never ending story book and all the fun signs around the cabin and just simply being together with family and friends in such an amazing place. Highly recommend this cabin to others. Great vacation!

Incredible property!

This place has at all. The house is huge, and all the beds are super comfy. Plenty of room for tons of people, and a fully stocked kitchen. But the outside of this place is where it’s at! Huge fire pit area, actually several, and the recreation area is amazing. Very unique. Volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, cornhole, swings, hot tub, hammock… There’s absolutely nothing you could want for that isn’t here. They have these really pretty outdoor lights around the hot tub swing and Hammock area, which was a great place to hang out at night! And the basement is fully stocked with toys also. We had many hours on that ping-pong table! And even though our kids were all teenagers, sleeping in the bunk areas were no problem. This place was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it. We hope to rent it again!!!!

Unbelievable mountain retreat!

Our group of 15 lacked nothing during our spectacular stay at the Lodge at Beasley Mine. WOW! I've never seen a house quite like it! With the huge, well-stocked game room, multiple flat-screen televisions, book and movie library, open kitchen, and massive stone fireplace, you could never get bored at this home, even on the coldest or rainiest day. Our kids were happy from the minute we entered the driveway! We also loved exploring the outdoor property. We took hikes, explored mines and waterfalls, and sat around the fire at night. Several of our boys and one dad took the "Beasley Mine Challenge" and posted times. The adults loved the covered porches and many places to sit and talk or read. We also played games at the huge dining room table after cooking together every night. We never felt a need to be in town or have any entertainment not provided at the cabin. Our kids are busy planning the next stay! We just hope we can get on the schedule. As much as I'd like to keep information about this cabin all to myself, I have to say that you'll never regret a stay here. Book it and make memories for a lifetime!

We loved everything in this property. We had book the property for two days and felt its not enough to explore it to fullest. Kids and adults had great time in the game room, it was the best part of our stay. We didnt have to worry about kids, It was safe and entertaining. Multiple firepits and enough firewood. Plenty of outdoor space to relax and play. We will recommend and we will come back for sure for longer stays.

The hiking and spelunking was exceptional.

After climbing the steep driveway to the peek of the overlooking cabin the three families found their appropriate rooms and settled in. First impressions were great. Spacious and stocked kitchen and amazing basement game room for the kids and adults alike to have fun in. The trails were great and the two mines we explored left us eager to return. Hot tub was cozy and the playground was a cool design.

Could have stayed for a month!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautifully decorated property and honestly didn’t want to leave! The house is well-equipped for a large group, accommodating our family of children, young adults, and adults with ease. There’s so much to do here, from hiking and spelunking to stargazing and relaxing on the porch with a glass of wine. The numerous fire pits and trails provided days of fun and exploration, and the game room was one of the best we’ve experienced. One note for future guests: the driveway leading up to the property is a bit rugged and challenging to drive on, so I’d recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle and caution against using a low-clearance car. Our host was incredibly communicative, keeping us updated with all the details we needed throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for a week and couldn’t fully enjoy all the amenities the property has to offer. We’re already looking forward to coming back and making the most of it next time!

We were a large group celebrating a friends birthday

Everything was right there on the beautiful property trails, hot tub, volleyball, other games, hammock, fire pits etc. and the house itself was just amazing we were a group of 15 and it accommodated everyone amazingly from top to bottom!! The pics online doesn't do this place justice I definitely recommend this place for family vacations or larger group trips for birthdays or girls trip my only con is that we needed a heads up on the drive up to the house it's not for compact cars they can make it up but kinda difficult so it's best to drive a truck,SUV or jeep but it's well worth it to rent one of those types of vehicles if you don't already own one I was fortunately in my Equinox AWD and came up and down easily but some others had compact cars and had minor difficulties but other than that this is an Awesome place to vacation!! There are soooo many more amazing things about this house and property that you will see that I didn't mention because I will be tying forever but again amazing house and property I definitely recommend it!! ❤️ 5⭐s

Something for everyone at this lodge

The owner is very responsive and has great communication. Was quick to respond when we reached out. The owner has put a lot of thought into this property. There is so much to do on the property for everyone. It was great exploring the trails and waterfalls, and the mine. They are fully stocked with board games, dvd videos, and books. There are plenty of comfortable sleeping areas. Lots of places outside to relax...swings, hammock, fire pit, hot tub. You are in nature...so expect bugs of all kinds and sizes. Lots of beautiful birds too. There is hand soap, but be sure to bring your own soap and shampoo. To get up to the lodge, with its beautiful view, you go up a very steep and narrow, winding dirt road. It is much easier with 4 wheel drive. There is a lot to do in the area. Its a great location. Would definitely recommend this lodge for a fun getaway in nature. We had a large group of various ages, and everyone really enjoyed

Excellent family home

Our extended family, ranging from 1-67 years of age, enjoyed a wonderful stay in this clean and spacious home in the Great Smoky Mountains region. There was ample room for sleeping with comfortable beds. The children enjoyed the bunks and spending time with their cousins on the property. It was nice to have so many outdoor and indoor activities to choose from. The kitchen had ample equipment and the second fridge in the basement was very helpful. The owner was very responsive to any questions. The basement is naturally cooler and the top floor a bit toasty but the ceiling fans, space heaters, and box fans supplied throughout make the entire home comfortable. The sturdy built in safety gates were wonderful with little ones and additional ones were supplied to be used as needed. Though others have mentioned the steep, 3/4 mile drive up to the lodge, it is doable. Highly recommend only going up and down in daylight if you are not used to driving on a mountain. This is an excellent location and home for a family getaway.

Birthday trip of a Lifetime

What a wonderful, magical hideaway this amazing property is. Our family of 16, ages 8-80, spent a week celebrating birthdays and enjoying the comfortable, clean cabin perched on the mountain. There is so much to do on the property, including hikes, abandoned mines, waterfalls, hot tub, fire pit for smores, and a hammock and swings for just relaxing. Sitting on the porch provided an amazing view of the mountains in the distance while the youngsters enjoyed volleyball, corn hole, and horseshoes below. The bedrooms and baths were comfortable and so interestingly appointed with various outdoor themes, and the game room well equipped including bunks to sleep 6. The host was so very welcoming and immediately available for any communication. This property is a jewel for any large group. We loved it and hope to return!

About the host

Hosted by Ricky Howe

Host profile image
We are Ricky and Debbie Howe from Tampa, FL. We have three amazing grown children and two beautiful grandchildren. We built our cabin with them in mind. We have large family functions and everyone has something to do. You can stay at the cabin for a week and never leave the property, or you can venture out to the neighboring areas for unlimited day trips. Franklin is surrounded by world class waterfalls, hiking, biking, brewery's, distilleries, shopping and dining. The cabin has everything you need. Our guiding principle was that we never wanted to live in a rental house; we wanted to rent our home.

Why they chose this property

Our neighborhood consists of long range mountain views, rolling hills and mountain streams. Every season brings new color and amazing scenery. The Lodge a Beasley Mine has everything needed for an amazing vacation. The huge full log construction is rare and incredibly comfy. The lodge sits on 11 acres of adventure. Multiple fire pits, recreation deck, swings, tree tent, climbing wall, club house, Jacuzzi, zip line, caves, hammocks and waterfalls just to name a few. Sit back on the porch at night and watch the kids chase the fire flies. Our guests say that the Lodge at Beasley Mine is the most fun and memorable vacation they have ever had.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is only 11 miles from town, down a 2 lane country road that winds through the  gorgeous river valley. Above the cabin is the Nantahala National Forest with old mica mines. One of the mines has a waterfall and a beautiful crystal clear pool. You can hike through the forest and even hunt during season. There is one year-round waterfall and two smaller seasonal waterfalls with creeks on the property and several trails. We start every morning with a cozy fire in the massive stone fireplace. There are two wrap around porches for watching the sunsets and the humming birds.  The hot tub sits on Mount Jacuzzi over looking the beautiful mountain range.  We have a fully equipped kitchen with everything need to prepare a beautiful meal for a large family. The Cabin is equipped with a whole house generator and instant hot water.
This is mountain living at its best.
