We stayed for a couple nights - cozy cabin in the perfect location for a quick ski getaway. Close to Whiteface and Lake Placid. Loved that there were board games for the family to play.
We had a wonderful time in the Barn cabin, it was very comfortable and clean, it was well stocked and everything we ere looking for for a couple quick nights way. Check in & finding it was very easy with the instructions provided even though we arrived after dark. Would definitely recommend!

Thanks William! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Hope to have you back again in the future.
What hooked me on this place was the bio from the host Trish and Steve about the transformation of their property and what it means to their family.
Growing up for as long as I can remember my family would make our annual trip to the Lake Placid area and stay at the now closed KOA on Fox Farm Rs off Rt 86. Now I have the opportunity to share that same love of the outdoors with a family of my own and this is the perfect place to do it!! We spent our time hiking Cascade Mountain, swimming and fishing nearby.
Check in was piece painless and the hosts (Trish and Steve) were quick to answer any questions.
For a family of 5 ‘The Barn’ was the amazing outpost (retreat) for hiking, fishing, swimming and close enough to town to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping.
*”The Barn” - Brand new! Spotless, corner to corner, fixture to fixture.Just beautiful and the kids absolutely loved this place as they had plenty of space to spread out.
*Amenities - Everything you need!
Fully stocked. Nothing we needed that wasn’t already there.
*Location - Ummhh it’s gorgeous here
Centrally located for unlimited hiking trails, swimming and fishing. Wilmington is just minutes away for a small town feel and then you have Lake Placid 15 minutes down the road.
Fantastic swimming hole 5 minute drive away near the Flume Falls off 86.
I am sure I’ll left some stuff out but you’ll have to explore some of that for yourself!!
Do yourself a favor, just book it!
Happy Trails…

About the host
Hosted by Trish & Steve Morrow
We sought to raise our family immersed in the outdoor adventures we had come to love as a couple. While discovering the Northeast United States, we were captivated by its array of outdoor adventures—hiking trails, majestic mountain peaks, scenic biking paths that sometimes challenged us with gruelling climbs, and steep ski slopes. Living on the St. Lawrence River in Canada, we longed for a weekend retreat within driving distance. The right opportunity presented itself and we found our haven in the Adirondacks, nestled near Whiteface Mountain, just over two hours away.
For the past decade, many of our weekends have been spent in our modest Amish shed. Skiing the slopes of Whiteface and navigating premier hiking and biking trails has woven into the fabric of our family life. Recently, we've added to our retreat with The Barn, a place where our aspiration to share this sanctuary with others comes alive. Our mission is clear: to inspire joy, adventure, and enduring memories among our guests, family and friends.
Some weeks you might find us at the Amish shed, where our journey began. We consider ourselves fortunate for these experiences and now eagerly extend them to others, urging them to embrace adventure and discover all the Adirondacks offer.
Our property offers our family and guests alike a chance to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and outdoor activities that have enriched our lives. The Adirondacks are more than just a destination; they are a place where memories are made, friendships are strengthened, and spirits are renewed. Our dream is for our guests to craft their own unforgettable experiences, whether it's exploring scenic trails, skiing down snowy slopes, or simply enjoying peaceful moments amidst nature's embrace.
Welcome to our slice of Adirondack paradise, where every visit promises unforgettable experiences and a celebration of life's essence in nature's embrace.
Why they chose this property
Wilmington is a charming town nestled in the Adirondacks that encapsulates everything we cherish about small-town life. After a day immersed in the natural splendour of the Adirondack region, we will visit the Twisted Raven or Rudy's for a après-drink where we chat with both locals and tourists. We also love to dine at the wonderful local establishments including New Vida, Hungry Trout or Ice Jam Inn. Wilmington ensures a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. For those seeking more, a short drive to Lake Placid reveals a plethora of dining options and unique shops, adding a dash of variety to the local experience.
Nearby Jay and Keene offer their own distinct charm, with delightful culinary offerings and inviting shops that beckon exploration. Positioned ideally for outdoor enthusiasts, Wilmington serves as an excellent basecamp for embarking on the challenging 46er hikes, or enjoying the exhilaration of skiing down pristine slopes or tackling rugged mountain bike trails. Road cyclists will find the area's scenic routes irresistible, with options suited to every level of proficiency.
For those drawn to history and sports, the Olympic sites in Lake Placid provide a window into past glory and present-day athleticism. Visitors can witness ski jumping events, experience the thrill of bobsledding down a historic track, or explore the area's Olympic facilities, offering a unique blend of sport and nostalgia.
In July, the Horse grounds buzz with activity, a testament to the areas lively community spirit and its embrace of diverse interests. Whether seeking quiet moments surrounded by nature, thrilling outdoor pursuits, or a taste of local culture and history, The Barn presents an idyllic retreat that will captivate visitors year-round.
