Super cheap for its 3-BR setup and its access to both the Yamanote line and the subway Mita Line. It's a bit of a walk to the JR station, about 9 mins, and 7 mins to the subway station. If the weather is nice, the walk is interesting and not tiring at all because of the many shops along the way. Since it is on a shopping street, there are restaurants, supermarket/convenience stores, coffee shops, bakeries, etc around so you will always be able to find food whatever time of day it is.
The house is a little dated but still provides the conveniences we needed for our stay. It feels homey, the beds are comfortable, the heating works well. We look forward to coming home to it after a long day of sightseeing. The kitchen is well equipped and supplies are well-provided as well as for the bathroom.
The only downside is that when going down the elevator, the ground floor button was not operational during our stay so we would get off at the 2nd floor and take the stairs to the ground floor. It wasn't too much trouble for us but it could be for those who need mobility and have heavy luggage.
All in all I would recommend this place to friends and family visiting Tokyo who are budget-conscious. There is hardly any other place you can find at this price.
The apartment is just a short walk from Shimo-Kitazawa which is an amazing hidden gem in Tokyo. This quaint little town is oozing with Tokyo coolness, packed full of thrift shops, bars and restaurants in a network of alley ways. Even cooler than Shimo-Kitazawa is Kotaro, the host. He was super helpful, met us at the station on arrival and gave us plenty of directions and recommendations for our stay. We couldn't thank him enough. The apartment itself is well stocked with all the necessities. There's a washing machine inside the bathroom which is very handy. Kotaro even lent us a portable wifi to use for the duration of our stay, that was a bonus! The apartment might not be the most luxurious but it definitely presents great value for a group of friends wanting to experience a more bohemian side of Tokyo!! Highly recommend!
