Liked the Cabin

We enjoyed the cabin, the shooting range and the river. The firepit was a mud pit, suggest putting a load of stone around it. The porta john hadn't been cleaned in a while. But overall it was a good time.

Hosts know this well. Your worst reviews come from your subpar guests. In fact, I violated my own rule and gave them 5 stars because I didn't inspect the range yet (because they weren't authorized tobuse it) and the cabin was left okay. They didn't follow the rules and left hamburgers in the cabin and trash in the trash can...both attracting rodents and bear that damage the cabin and rip screens but I was willing to let it go. Much more seriously, in viomation of explicit range rules provided them, they shot on the range without getting authorization and did not sign the release forms. Further, they left logs in my field after shooting which damages mowers and equipment and pushed over a barricade. Hindsight is 20/20. As for the fire pit, it is outdoors and when it rains the ground gets muddy. I can't control the weather. As for the porta john. It's an outhouse at a rustic cabin as advertised. I guess the summary as a host is I'd be hesitant to rent to them despite my initial review. The failure to follow range firearm rules in particular gets a lifetime range ban. Had I known they used the range prior to completing their review I would have given one star. We take range safety extremely seriously and had we given others permission to hike or camp without knowing there was a hot range that would have created a hazard I won't tolerate.

The perfect place to slow down and reflect

Was looking for a place that I could enjoy nature, play with my dog, cook over an open fire and do a little shooting without having to deal with the people you get at public ranges. This Cabin has everything. Great views, nice little bunk bed setup to put your sleep mat, loft. It snowed during my stay and was absolutely gorgeous. One tip, bring a propane heater if going during the winter. The wood stove gets a bit Smokey even with the flu adjusted perfect. Great place will definitely get back this year for a few days.

Good Weekend

PRO's: -The cabin was great. -Enjoyed Fishing -Enjoyed shooting -Local folks were super nice CON's: -Grass could have been cut/trimmed -Porta Jon could have been pumped Unexpected: -While well of the beaten path, it was not as secluded as I expected. There were folks in a house across the river and I think maybe a camp site down the road. Lots of 4 wheelers. I enjoyed my weekend and I will be back!

WOW!

If the rating of the "accuracy of the online listing" didn't effect the score negatively, I would rate it a 1. The online listing does not do this place justice at all! It is so much more than the pictures or the description would lead you to believe. It is a local escape that seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. If you like 100% nature and no city whatsoever, this is the place! BEAUTIFUL! And Joe was so easy to work with Available if you need him but leaves you to your vacay otherwise. We will most definitely be back!!!

Quiet Location

Beautiful rustic spot in the woods. Weather was so nice we slept on the screened in porch. Check in was easy and the directions to the property were easy to follow. Loved being in nature with NO CELL PHONES.

The river was dreamy

We spent most of our time floating and playing in the river, which is right in front of the cabin. The water is clean and deep. The land is expansive and lovely. The cabin is as described - basic and adequate - I especially liked the large screened porch. I hope to return soon!

Good getaway from the wife and kids

Don't get me wrong, we love our spouses and children, but sometimes....we'll, you just need to go away for a long weekend. Seriously, though, on to the review. Loved it. Remote enough to where we didn't hear anything, but close enough to civilization that if you REALLY need a pizza you can run and get one. Fishing...too late in the year to catch anything, but WILL be nice at other times of the year. Shooting....nice set-up. Star gazing... beautiful. Cabin itself.....awesome. no concerns or issues. Numerous extra amenities and goodies throughout. Only thing that would make it better would be a LazyBoy recliner and onsite chef,,,,but hey, "camping", Thanks!

Great adventure for the kids

Everything was as expected, cabin was even nicer than photos (rustic cabin with bunks for the boys). It was a couple of cold May nights so we had the wood stove going which helped. Bring all your camping supplies and air mattresses! We did get off and on rain so site was pretty muddy around campfire as the area has recently been cleared. But it was what we wanted, off grid experience for the kids! We enjoyed some fishing and shooting (great shooting range!) coming in off Eddie Mill Rd right prior to the stream you cross is a large rock In the road. If you don’t have a larger truck you will bottom out on it, if you go down road 20’ you can take a more gradual road in! Thanks for the stay we hope to come back!
