About this property
The Tack House, Holkham, Norfolk
A fabulous and truly unique opportunity to stay on the beautiful Holkham estate in this 200-year-old stylish Georgian farm manager's house. Enjoy an idyllic farm setting, with views to die for, where only the sounds of nature are likely to disturb the peace. This hideaway boasts a hard surface, family tennis court for guests to use.
Grade II listed, The Tack House is a very special Norfolk hideaway located just a ten-minute walk away from the South Gates, parkland and Long Avenue that sweeps down to glorious Holkham Hall. If you love walking, cycling and fresh air and relish calm and rural living, this is the perfect place for you. Add very easy access to the stunning beaches along the Norfolk coastline (Holkham's own beauty is just the other side of the park) and you have hit gold!
Thoughtfully refurbished, a great deal of consideration has gone into ensuring this spacious period country house has retained an essence of grandeur and elegance. The addition of a stylish mix of contemporary and antique furniture along with an eclectic selection of artworks from the art dealer owner's private collection enhance The Tack House's individual character and bring it to life. You will find it to be a rather smart, but casual, easy and unfussy house that is comfortable and well-equipped, with rooms that are airy and bright. And there is certainly ample room for everyone to spread out.
On the first floor are three bedrooms (super-king, king/twin and single), all with extra comfy beds and lovely linens, and two bathrooms. The magnificent private master suite runs the width of the house and has a separate seating area, dressing room and large adjoining bathroom. Downstairs there is a generous-sized farmhouse kitchen with two electric Aga options, a lovely sitting room with a wood burning stove and windows overlooking the garden, along with a cosy snug enjoying views across the fields - an ideal spot for curling up with a book, working (if you must) or enjoying a television programme or film all to yourself. Oil-fired radiators keep the house cosy in the cooler months. Outside the enclosed and private courtyard garden has a covered seating area, a fire pit and a full-sized table tennis table to keep you entertained. The Tack House is a very much a grown-up property but well-behaved children and dogs are very welcome to stay.
From The Tack House, it is possible to walk all the way to the Holkham Hall and Holkham beach. Bikes can be rented in the park or there is the option to have bikes rented and delivered to The Tack House. It is a great way to explore all the way down to Holkham and Wells Beach directly from the property.
Additional Information: Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, at a charge of £50/dog. The tennis court is available to use May to October. Please bring your own tennis rackets and balls. Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot. The WiFi signal should be good, though download speeds may be variable.

A comfortable, very well equipped house with a lot of space and in a lovely tranquil area but only a few minutes from the traditional coastal town of Wells next the sea which has a wonderful beach, great fish and chips and a variety of shops and places to eat. Couldn’t fault our week, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

A spacious and well equipped home in beautifully tranquil surroundings
What a great house! We really enjoyed all the space as a family of four with two dogs. It’s so nice to know the owners are nearby and care about your stay - we felt really welcome. The farm is beautiful and though we spent a lot of time out during the day the enclosed garden was a perfect place to hang out in the evening (though a little chilly in April!)
Location is fantastic for Holkham Hall, Holkham Bay plus Wells and Blakeney. We hope to visit again soon!
Thank you.

Great house in a superb location
We have had a fantastic few days at the Tack House which was everything that we could have hoped for - the house was beautifully equipped and comfortable and the location was perfect both in terms of its immediate surroundings and its proximity to the amazing beaches of North Norfolk. Our hosts could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Highly recommended.

Fab place to take your dogs.
Really lovely spot. Great dog walks near by. Holkham beach is beautiful and not too far to walk.
The big bed was most comfortable.
I would suggest a few more frying pans and some gin glasses.

Lovely peaceful house
This house a located in a beautiful quiet location, well equipped and comfortable. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. Dog friendly, lovely open fire and an Aga - perfect.
Tack House provided the perfect location for exploring North Norfolk. We were two couples and a spaniel and the house met all our needs. We had mixed weather and the private garden with its covered barn was brilliant for our dog. Our host was very welcoming providing a more than generous hamper and treats for the dog. We had a great week and would visit again.

Over all an excellent holiday.
We found the Tack House directions easy to follow, when we arrived we were very impressed by the location.
The house it’s self was very impressive and the owners had done a fantastic job of the interior we thought the artwork in each room was such a lovely touch. Our two Labradors were so well catered for you could see the owners were dog lovers.
One small point was we thought there could have been a few more mugs other than that everything was well catered for.
So all in all a fantastic holiday and would certainly return if visiting the area.
