Vose Farm is situated just outside the historic village of Tregony, known to many as the “gateway” to the Roseland Peninsula. One of the most unspoilt areas in Cornwall and designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Roseland is widely renowned for its beautiful coastline and scenic countryside. Standing on the eastern side of the River Fal, The Peninsula extends from Tregony to St. Anthony’s Head, much being the ownership of the local Tregothnan Estate and The National Trust.

St Mawes is perhaps the best known destination on the peninsula and needs little introduction as the up-market sailing community renowned for Olga Polizzi’s Hotel Tresanton. Set around the sheltered and picturesque natural harbour at the mouth of the Percuil River, St. Mawes offers direct access to the Fal Estuary and Carrick Roads with some of the finest day sailing waters in the country. Regular racing is organized by St. Mawes Sailing Club with further water sports available on the Percuil River.

The nearest beach is at Porthluney with other notable nearby beaches including Pendower, Carne and Porthbeor. The pretty classic small fishing village of Portloe is approximately 6 miles to the south with Portscatho slightly further away. The Southwest Coast Path provides a variety of beautiful walks along this stretch of coastline including Dodman Point and Nare Head, both of which are in the ownership of the National Trust.

Tregony is just less than 3 miles away where there are general stores, doctors, and a dentist. There are a variety of country pubs in the surrounding area including The Crown Inn at St. Ewe and The Kings Head at Ruan Lanihorne. The Cathedral city of Truro is approximately 11 miles distance and now forms the commercial heart of the county with an extensive range of commercial, professional, shopping and entertainment facilities. In the city centre there is a flagship Marks and Spencer Store, multi-screen cinema and The Hall for Cornwall theatre.

Quality barn conversion

Very nice barn conversion which met all our needs. Good central location within easy reach to lots of beaches and attractions. The views and grounds are fabulous. Dog friendly and our dog loved the wood for walks.

The little things that count.

We enjoyed the experience of Hawthorn Cottage. Phil the owner was very approachable and was there if we needed anything, the property was in really good condition, clean and tidy. There was instant hassle free access to WiFi and even free amazon prime TV. The location is very central for places like Mevagissey, St Mawes, Tregony (great food at The Kings Arms), The Roseland, Truro and St Austell. Overall we were well pleased, and I'm sure Vose Farm will be completely different during a summertime stay. Wishing Phil and April a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

A perfect and comfortable week away

The property was so clean and well managed, meeting all our needs for a young family with ample sleeping space for a travel cot and built in stair gates. The fridge freezer is full size and ample cupboard space to fit an entire weekly shop which we had delivered. There aren’t take away options nearby so get in something that’s a treat from the array of supermarkets in St Austell. When we did forget matches for the bbq, Phil was more than happy to help us out and fantastic answering all questions I had prior to the visit too. We visited porthluney cove a couple of days which was beautiful and Sandy and not overwhelmingly busy on the peak days. For a quieter day we stayed on the farm walking round the woods and the large green space in the centre to play and rest. Our cottage looked out over the fields of sheep and the girls were fascinated to greet them each morning and see them fed every day, looking out for Norman in his truck who was kind to chat and wave up to the window. I would definitely recommend a stay here!

The Perfect Stay

This is the first time myself and my family have stayed in a cottage, Phil has now set the future standards very high. The check in process was seamless, any questions asked prior to our stay we're answered promptly. Phil is a great host and took the time to greet us (in a Covid safe manner of course). The properties are built to a high spec and contain everything you need. It was great to come home with no bags of washing to do. There's TV in all rooms, with Netflix, Prime TV, and YouTube (you need to have a subscription to use) which was perfect for my kids and the Wi-Fi was great for them too. This allowed the whole family to relax in the evening, especially me and my wife who needed a much-deserved break. The immediate surroundings are beautiful, waking up, looking out of the windows seeing glorious green fields with farm animals was so nice. The great weather we had helped too. Although you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, you are only 10 - 15 mins drive away from beeches and shops etc. If you're looking for the perfect getaway, I highly recommend this place. If I'm heading this way in the future, I would definitely book again. Thanks, Phil, for a fab time.

A relaxing and comfortable stay

Lovey location with lots of places to exercise our dogs. Generally very comfortable and clean but with a few tiny niggles which I noticed, having stayed at lots of cottages previously. Towels were a bit tired and scratchy. Not sure if it was due to Covid but I was disappointed by the lack of cleaning products such as antibac kitchen spray, dishwasher tabs and washing powder even just to get us started off. Also no tea, coffee, sugar etc. Overall though we really enjoyed it and the location perfect for exploring the area.

Stunning cottage and grounds. My husband enjoyed fishing. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen had everything you needed. I really do need to say this. Phil the manager is amazing. Answers all your questions. Made sure heating was on for our arrival. Nothing is enough for Phil.

Fantastic accommodation & beatiful Surroundings with wildlife/ fishing lake

The photos' don't do Vose Farm justice. The accommodation was lovely with all the home comforts & spotlessly clean. The views from the lounge towards the Roseland were beautiful & you can watch the sun set on an evening. The grounds at Vose farm are beautifully maintained & we enjoyed the walk through the 7 acres of woodland. Phil & April couldn't do enough for us, will definitely return next year. Loved it!!
