Hope to see you again for the next golf tournament!
Woodcock farm stay was lovely with a well appointed apartment/flat in a restored barn. Definitely farm chic with very comfortable beds and wonderfully equipped kitchen. Fun to watch the chickens and ducks from our window. Only a 15 minute drive to lovely villages in the area with great farm shops and pubs. I would highly recommend this stay and we would definitely return again .

It was a pleasure to meet you all and thank you for choosing Woodcock Farm Holidays. We do hope we'll see you again!
Lovely 2 BR upper level unit. Nicely renovated apartment on a farm next to the hill fort and the Cotswold Way footpath. Well equipped kitchen with new appliances. Cross breeze at night to handle the very warm August weather when we were there. As the listing notes, weak rural internet. Washer and drying rack useful for our stay.
If you’re walking the Cotswolds Way this is a great location as the route passes the end of the property. Very warm and cosy and had most things you need to self cater.
Fort View is a very comfortable, stylish, welcoming apartment just outside of Bath but in a peaceful farm setting and right on the Cotswold Way. The accommodation was immaculate with high quality furnishings and comfy beds. We had a warm welcome from the owners who were generally around and happy to help with any queries. There were other holiday units as part of the development too - all of which looked lovely. Fort View has some steep steps to access the front door so may not be suitable for people with mobility problems. We loved it!

About the host
Hosted by Caroline and Jason
Our first business plan was written on a beer mat during a business trip to Chicago in 1999…and we’ve been working towards it ever since! The opportunity to buy Woodcock Farm in 2016 was a dream come true and seeing it all coming together has been fantastically rewarding. Our vision is to create a relaxed and friendly holiday environment with really comfortable facilities surrounded by and connected to the outdoors.
Maintaining the wonderful hill fort and running the farm are integral to the experience, as we see it, and we aim to do so in as environmentally friendly way possible. One of our first decisions was to install a large array of PV solar panels on our barn roofs, which means we produce nearly all the electricity we use on the property. We believe in the highest standards of animal welfare and we want to do all we can to support rare and traditional breeds.
With Caroline’s background in exhibition organising and Jason’s in the drinks trade, we had solid business experience, so to combine that with Jason’s passion for horses and all things outdoors, and Caroline’s love of a building and renovation project, we knew we had the basis to create an unforgettable venue which we are privileged to share with our guests.
We have three children, Jack and Lydia, and their partners, who are up in London building their own careers, and Rory who was born in 2003 and who has a burning passion for farming – so you will see him out and about tending the animals.
Why they chose this property
The peaceful 36 acres sits on an Iron Age hill fort with links to both the Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. Atop a west facing escarpment, it comprises a large central meadow, circled by two ring mounds, with the small woodland to the southern edge – perfect for those who enjoy scenic walks, and being immersed in nature.
Our accommodation comprises newly renovated and fully-furnished luxury self-contained apartments, each with its own private entrance. The apartments have been designed to provide every home comfort. Completed with beautiful furnishings, contemporary bathrooms, delightfully comfortable beds, a welcoming and relaxing living space and fully-fitted kitchen, we aim to provide an oasis of calm and comfort away from your daily lives.
In our private native woodland, we also offer a fabulous glamping option in our geodesic dome (think Eden project!) This has a comfortable double bed, two futon single beds, a wood burner, barbecue a composting loo, and a crazy hot outdoor shower – as well as the most fantastic views.
Nearby are Bath, Bristol, Tetbury, Westonbirt, Chipping Sodbury & Cirencester, just 5 mins from J18 of M4, opposite the Badminton Estate.
On the farm are sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, geese and guinea fowl. Animal lovers, both young and old, are welcome to be shown around and learn more about rural British farming.
The Cotswold Way National Trail crosses the property, so we are ideally situated for beautiful walking, and exploring the surrounding towns and cities. However, as the farm is set in a quiet rural location, you will escape the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world.
What makes this property unique
The Cotswolds in one of the most beautiful parts of SW England, but close at hand if you want great shops, restaurants and nightlife are Bath and Bristol. Our local town – Chipping Sodbury – boasts its own artisan bakers (Hobbs House Bakery – The Fabulous Baker Boys), Waitrose, local butchers and greengrocers as well as a great Deli/coffee shop called Hamptons, which serve a great brunch! There is a cinema and sports centre with a indoor pool in Yate, which is 15 mins away, and Yate also offers a train service to Bristol Parkway. The free Park and Ride service into Bath is around 15 mins drive located at the top of Lansdown, near the Racecourse. There are a host of places to visit close at hand; Westonbirt Arboretum, Tetbury and Cirencester, Malmsbury Abbey, Berkeley Castle, Bristol Zoo and Aquarium, @Bristol to name a few. The Cotswolds Way cuts through the farm and there a many local footpaths and walks which take you through some of the beautiful local countryside. Things to do at the Farm: We feed the chickens and ducks and collect eggs every afternoon at around 4pm. Guests are welcome to join us. If guests are interested in feeding sheep (or pigs when we have them) we can arrange this. We will be lambing during March so guests may come and watch – we guarantee any action, but we may have lambs to watch! Rainy days: Bath and Bristol provide a wealth or ‘wet weather’ entertainment. The Roman Baths Fashion Museum, Assembly Rooms, The Jane Austen Museum Bath Abbey The Holburne Museum The American Museum name a few in Bath.
