TOURISM

Currently, tourism is the engine of the local economy, relying mainly on the hyperactive sector of construction and real estate activities in general. The population of Jávea is growing at an impressive rate, mainly coming from northern Europe in what residents of relatively high purchasing power a year, although a very strong immigration from Morocco or the South American countries took place in recent years, as a force of work. It is estimated that the population more than doubles, to reach some 150,000 inhabitants in summer, although tourism tends to frequent Jávea all year round. Numerous activities are developed around these movements of population: restoration, hospitality, sports activities and varied play, etc.

Tourism began in the mid-60s thanks to the creation of a Tourism Parador.
