About this property

Beautiful town house with Nordic flair and views over the estuary

Welcome to Lowen House, located in the charming seaside fishing village of Looe in Cornwall, close to plenty of shops, restaurants and a pretty sandy beach.

Lowen House is a beautiful Victorian town house set in a quiet location up the hill in West Looe. It has stunning views over the estuary and up the river valley surrounded by rolling hills. The house comes with a mix of classical and modern furnishings along with a garden lounge, perfect for a barbecue or afternoon tea.

The house has three comfortable bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, along with a modern bathroom complete with both a walk in shower and a bath.
You can enjoy our bright lounge with comfortable sofas and views over the surrounding hills, as well as the front garden. We also have a fully fitted modern kitchen to prepare new culinary experiences from freshly caught fish, which are available from the quayside fishmongers. Other fresh local produce is also available in the town below just a 5 minutes walk away.

Equipment to make your stay more enjoyable includes smart TVs in the lounge and two of the bedrooms. Every room has wireless Bluetooth speakers that you can use to create a sound system that covers the whole house. USB plug inns are also provided in every room.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. An iron and ironing board are also included, as well as central heating and two fireplaces to keep away the chill in colder months.

The house has a parking space for two smaller cars or one larger SUV.

Looe has a harbour and a long stretch of a sandy beach, framed by the famous Banjo Pier, which makes it a popular destination during the summer months. There is a seafront walkway leading away from the village to a second beach complete with tide pools and good snorkelling for the more adventurous visitors. Many pubs, restaurants and cafes provide tastes for every palette, while the nearby vineyards offer tastings in high quality local artisan wines.

From the harbour, you can embark on a fishing or pleasure boat trip. The excursion to Looe Island’s bird and wildlife sanctuary is stunning. Or a ferry ride to nearby towns of Fowey and Polperro. The latter was once a thriving centre for smuggling and is now famous for a festival held in June that includes live music of many genres, dance, street entertainment, theatre and children's entertainment.

There are also numerous walks around the Looe and Polperro Heritage Coast for those who like to enjoy the nature and the beautiful views of the rugged Cornish coastline. If you're feeling energetic, you can even take on the 12-mile hike on the Coastal path all the way to Polruan, passing high above turquoise seas and white sandy beaches.

Many popular surfing and diving spots are also just a short ride away.

About the host

Hi, we are Family Sibelius and this is our Cornish slice of calm with a topping of adventure. We are originally from Finland and grew up in a coastal town, so after relocating down to London from Edinburgh over a decade ago, we started visiting Cornwall regularly. We explored the best beaches and surfing spots, walks and sights, and decided we wanted a base of our own from which we could continue our explorations, or where we could just come and unwind after a busy week in London. Looe, which derives its name from the Cornish word ‘Logh’ meaning deep water inlet, has always been one of our favourite places in Cornwall. For us, this jaw-droppingly pretty fishing village located at the mouth of a gorgeous turquoise water inlet has it all; a beautiful sandy beach, nice tea houses to enjoy that famous Cornish cream tea, and restaurants that serve fresh dishes made from local produce. From Looe onwards you can find walks that follow the breathtaking Cornish coastline. Everything else, from amazing surf spots to vineyards are just a short drive away. However, we are also keen sailors and spend most of our summer holidays sailing around the Mediterranean, so we decided to let our house out for others to enjoy and explore everything Cornwall has to offer. We hope you enjoy your stay and make as many fun memories as we already have. We’re always happy to help with tips on where to go and what to do! Hav splann re bo dhywgh hwi oll! (Have a great summer!)
