About this property

Downlands, Burnham Market, Norfolk

This stylish detached cottage, with a fabulous fully-enclosed garden, offers peace, privacy, convenience and driveway parking. Tucked away on a quiet lane, you are just a short walk away from the bustling hub of Burnham Market, Norfolk's jewel in the crown.

Downlands is a smart and comfortable modern property, with a sunny sitting room with cosy wood burning stove. The dining area and french doors open out into the pretty garden, safe for both children and dogs to play happily while you relax. A well-equipped modern fitted kitchen and adjoining utility, along with a cloakroom complete the ground floor. With three bedrooms (king-size, double and twin), along with a family bathroom on the first floor, Downlands is an ideal house for good friends - with or without children - to spend some time away together, as well as a perfect spot for a family break.

Burnham Market is an attractive Georgian village with great local facilities, all within walking distance - a butcher, greengrocer, deli, fishmonger and French bakery, as well as numerous notable restaurants open for breakfast and brunches along with relaxed and more formal dining options for lunch and dinner. With art galleries, an antique shop and independent retailers, it's a shoppers' heaven. Surrounded by wonderful walks and cycle routes and only a five-minute drive to Burnham Overy Staithe, where you can sail your boat, catch the Ferry to Scolt Head island or fish for crabs. The village is serviced by the Coasthopper bus which can take you the whole way along the North Norfolk Coast if you fancy leaving your car behind.

Amazing location

We have stayed on the North Norfolk coast for many years, often in Burnham Market, and Downlands was by far the best location being so close to the village green but quiet and tucked away, and with excellent off street parking for several cars. Lovely garden and very comfortable sitting room. Great house for children.

Excellent location

Lovely house and garden in a peaceful area and within walking distance of the village. The house was well equipped with cleaning products and plenty of kitchen utensils and crockery. Just a few niggles.....found clothes in cupboards, also makeup and toiletries in bathroom cabinet which I presume they belong to the owners. Food left in freezer and the baking tins need replacing. Bedlinen was crumpled being washed but not ironed, no bath towels in bathroom and had to find them. No one came to change bed linen and towels during our stay of 2 weeks. The light in the bathroom is very dim and a heated towel rail would be a good idea. Overall the housekeeping was not up to the standard it should have been especially as Covid is still present in our lives. I would recommend Downlands and will book again in the future.
