Plenty of room for 5 member fam and our dog. Think Justin the beaver scared some fish away, but no complaints! Nice sleepy town with lots to do within a short (or long) drive.
Beautiful view! We loved watching the sunset on the river while wildlife swam past. They provided kayaks, firewood, and tons of outdoor seating! It was a perfect! The house had everything we needed for a relaxing get away!
It was a great stay for our family of 5. There was plenty of room inside. However, the main reason for our stay was outside - we really enjoyed the kayaks, fishing, swimming at the nearby beach, and wildlife. The river is calm and wide - feels a lot more like being on a lake than what you might think obeying on a river. Highly recommend.
Loved the property and view of the river. Had a great time kayaking, floating and hanging out on the deck. Short walk to store and restaurant was great. Also went to Black River falls which was beautiful. Enjoyed the peace and quiet and bonfires.
Comfortable, well appointed cabin - Charlie & Shelly thought of everything guests might want or need. Secluded location, quiet and rustic. Beautiful views of the river, kayaks for our use, swimming, grilling on the deck, enjoying the fire pit (to keep away the mosquitos in summer!). If you want to get away and totally unwind, this is the place!
Very clean, nicely updated home. Very small yard and close neighboors. Great kitchen!

Disappointing
The pictures and description online were very different from what the place actually was. Even though the place was disappointing we had a great time spending time together as a family.

Jessica, I am very confused. The pictures were actual pictures of the property. What do you think I could add that would have helped?
Very friendly owners stay right next door. Even though it rained for most of our stay, the view from the deck was absolutely worth it. The house was cozy and provided a lot of amenities. (like laundry detergent, seasonings, etc)
We were about 30-40 minutes from Marquette, which is a big town that has all the stores you could need, (like bigger grocery stores) plus a very cute smaller part you can walk around with shops and breweries.
We recommend Black Rocks Brewery if you like beer. They have an outside area with fire pits and games. And The Honest Distillery if you like bourbon/whiskey.
We rented this cabin for our anniversary to relax and unwind. It was perfect. Very well appointed and had everything we might need. The view of the Michigamme River was just beautiful. It was cold and rainy on and off during our stay so we couldn’t enjoy sitting out on the deck or having a fire but we’re already looking at coming back next year during the warmer months. Even so, the large window at the front of the cabin allowed us to feel almost outside without being out in the cold and rain. There’s also a little store barely a block from the cabin that was handy and had a little bit of everything and the restaurant a block up we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. We also enjoyed walking to the Republic mine overlook and doing a little hiking on the Iron Ore Heritage trail. Both very easy walks from the cabin. Our dog enjoyed the stay as well! It’s so nice to find a pet friendly cabin and also not to have huge crazy pet fees on top of that! We look forward to many trips back!
Every year my children and I take a trip over Labor Day somewhere to the UP. This year we went to Republic. We enjoyed our time very much. The view on the river was amazing. The property owners were very nice and accommodating. I would definatley go back.
My wife and I were looking for a weekend vacation. the place was gorgeous and relaxing and the view is amazing ,the owner and his wife are super friendly and so are the people in the town in the town.. we had a great time staying there.
Great homeowners to open their home to us during COVID. Wonderful remodeled kitchen everything you need available. Relaxing peaceful setting right on the water. We even caught a couple fish. Great getaway would recommend. Having laundry a plus.

Had a great stay
The view is spectacular, the property was as advertised, only caught one fish. The fall colors were just starting when we arrived, but were spectacular before we left. The Friday night fish fry at the local restaurant was excellent. We would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

Relaxing and Fun Weekend with a Beautiful River View
Great cabin for our long weekend in early September. The river view was just like the picture. We enjoyed many hours on the deck overlooking the river and had a great time kayaking and fishing too. The cabin is small, but it worked fine for the four of us. The kitchen has everything you would need. As an added bonus, the colorful bathroom towels smelled fresh and clean. We enjoyed the short walk to a nice little diner in town with good pizza and broasted chicken and a great country breakfast. The owners were so great to work with and helpful. What a nice little river cabin in a small town!

Perfect weekend
This cottage was the perfect getaway for my family for a long weekend. Everything we needed was already at the house and easy to find. We were lucky enough to have amazing late summer weather on the river, but I wouldn't mind watching some rain come in from the comfort of indoors either. Thanks again for letting us stay in your lovely home away from home!

Wonderful Weekend Away
This place is great! A wonderful getaway with a view that can't be beat! We walked to town for breakfast. Were able to enjoy the music from the close by park. My kids loved the yard, dock, kayaks and bunk bed. We will absolutely try to come back again soon!

Everything as expected and thought very nice!!
I really enjoyed everything and would come back again. The view was great and I enjoyed exploring the water falls in the area so the book of water falls was great. Trip to pictured rocks was also awesome. If any suggestions I would say grill brush needed and maybe another working fan. The water was nice and refreshing on the hot days. Kayaking and Fishing was also fun as I caught a few fish each day. Fire pit was very nice with the exception of the mosquitos that I expected anyway. Shower was awesome!!! I would say beds were average but about what I expected and nothing that caused me any issues with someone with back problems occasionally. Thanks for a great week.

Location was beautiful! Owners were very easy to work with and very accommodating. Would stay again!
This cabin was very clean and nicely equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Our family loved the kayaks, including life jackets, which we used daily. Fishing and swimming off the dock was so enjoyable and the sunsets over the river, breathtaking!
Nice enclosed porch in the front for extra storage and a deck on the back with tables and chairs! Washer and dryer were a great bonus, also.
This property was lovely and we would definitely stay again! Thank you Charlie and Shirley for letting us enjoy your beautiful cabin!

About the host
Hosted by Charlie and Shelly Sullivan
Charlie and Shelly live right next door to our Vacation Rental. We moved to Republic in 2019, back to Charlie's home town. When the house next door came up for sale, it was a great opportunity for us to add another property for Vacation Rental.
Why they chose this property
We never imagined we would find a place as perfect as Republic. We enjoy long kayak rides, campfires, relaxing and reading on the deck. In the fall we enjoy hikes with full color along the Heritage Trail. Winter? Ha! We are in Arizona!
What makes this property unique
Whether you are looking to relax or enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, - so many opportunities in the areal. Heritage Trail entrance is a walkable distance from our home. Day trips to Marquette, Pictured Rocks, waterfall hikes, and you can return home to relax and enjoy the sunsets! Winter sports include snowmobiling, ice skating, cross country skiing, etc. We are right off of a main Snowmobile trail.
