About this property

Luxury Custom Built Log Cabin with indoor pool and spa on Lake Michigamme

You are surrounded in overwhelming beauty from every angle of our cabin. Through the large windows you can see one of Michigan's largest inlet lake, Michigamme, which is just shy of 4300 acres, with depths up to 70 feet deep and has 27 islands on it.

It is great for swimming, boating and fishing or you can walk down to the water and enjoy our 340 feet of water front. Our family- friendly cabin features all the amenities you can find at any resort. It sleeps 8 people comfortably. As soon as you walk in the front door, you will be wowed by the over-sized logs through out the cabin.

We have unique hour glassed shaped entry ways and a beautiful curved staircase leading up to the loft area with a tree as a post. It is a great focal point in the home. Our in-door pool, hot tub and sauna will allow you to relax at any hour of the day. The custom Tuki Hut has 3 stools. There are 2 lounge chairs so you can watch your children have fun or just relax for yourself. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and two sofa beds that can sleep the extra guests. The master bedroom features an on suite with a custom designed shower and large heated soaker tub for those quiet nights you wish to have.

You can also enjoy the scenery from the balcony off the master suite. You can sit down on the two rocking chairs and enjoy your morning coffee. The gourmet kitchen has everything you need to make that perfect meal with a table that seats 8 people. The hliving area features a large wood burning fireplace for those chilly nights. The television over the fireplace has direct TV so you can watch your favorite movies and shows available for your stay. Please feel free to bring all the movies you would like for family entertainment, we have two DVD players for you to use.

The front porch has a large overhang so you can sit outside in any element and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. There is an outdoor fire pit, outdoor kitchen with gas grill and a charcoal BBQ for your enjoyment. The outdoor space is all grass. We have provide a walking path that leads right down to the dock for access to swimming, fishing and boat docking.
For the protection and privacy (would be tresspassers) there is a security gate with a security camera located in eye's view. This is for your peace mind so no one will disrupt your stay at Wolf Lake Lodge. We also placed 4 other visible exterior cameras, by fire pit, carport, front door and by the dock. This is so the guest's outdoor vechicals and recreational vechicals are protected at all times in the event that a would be trespasser comes uninvited and interupts your much needed vacation. We would like to also inform each and everyone of our guests that there are absolutely no interior cameras located inside the cabin or looking into the cabin. We do have a panic button located in the laundry room of the cabin, linked directly to our monitering team as well as the Michigan state Police. We take great pride in ensuring our guests and their loved ones are protected during your stay.

For your larger motorized water vehicles there is access to the lake at Van Riper State Park, which you passed upon arriving from highway 41. If you love the winter sports there are well maintained trails for snow mobilizers and people who like to quad. Right down the road from us is Van Riper State Park, they offer camping and beach/boat access if you desire it.

Thirty miles east of us is the great town of Marquette which lays upon the shores of Lake Superior. It is a beautiful town with small shopping malls, a Walmart, Lowes, Target, several grocery stores, bakeries, farmers market, Walgreens, hotels, fine dining along the water as well as fast food, drinking establishments and a movie theater.

If you like golfing Marquette has three beautiful golf courses. Whatever your pleasure, you will surely find what you need. There is also an International airport and well equipped teaching hospital. We have a local gas/grocery/ party store 20 minutes away from the property in Ispheming. You can get both diesel and regular gas at this location. If travelling further east you will come to a town called Munising here you can take a tour of the famous Pictured Rocks and there are beautiful.

For the ski lovers we have Marquette Mountain which has 23 different runs and trails from easy to difficult depending on your level. It is about one hour from our home. Marquette also has beautifully groomed snowmobile trails that go for miles. You do not even need to load your snowmobile up on a trailer to reach the trails. Just follow your way up to the State Park at the beginning of Holli Blue Road and the trails begin there. Please go onto Marquette Snowmobile Trails for a full sized map of our trails. We have two sets of snowshoes for your enjoyment to travel through our woods.

Right off our property you can also enjoy ice-fishing. We have bass, walleye, northern pike and many other types of fish right in our own lake. If you love the fall colors, there are many different tours you can take. They have 165 miles of beautiful scenery for you to see.You can also enjoy the fall colors right on the property. We have a variety of animals right on the property. (deer, moose, black bear and other small game) unfortunately there is no hunting on our property at anytime. There is hunting in the surrounding areas.

In the Spring time you can sit back and enjoy everything coming to life once again. For the bird lovers we have a large amount of birds you can watch right on the front porch. We have a bald eagle that makes his home on our 100 year old pine tree.

No matter what time of the year you come, there is something for everyone.

Perfect Family Getaway

My husband, myself and our boys spent 3 nights at this beautiful cabin. We spent the days ice fishing, swimming, relaxing, and more swimming. The cabin provided everything would need from the kitchen, towels and plenty of extra blankets/pillows. Tim and Melanie were alway very quick to respond to any questions we had. We loved everything about our stay and plan to return. were

Very nice property

The dock area is great for boats, OK for swimming (you do also have an indoor pool) as it's fairly shallow around the dock (<4' deep). Two boats could easily dock here.

Great Place to Get Away

Our stay here was great and the house was beautiful! The pool and hot tub were amazing, especially on rainy days. The house was very well- stocked for towels, soap, paper products, etc. The covered deck and grill were convenient, and the lake access was pretty accessible for kayaks.

Relaxing Oasis

All I can say is WOW! This cottage was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful and quiet, just what our little family needed. It was a bit rainy the first day but luckily we had no plans for the day and plenty to do inside. Our 4 year old LOVED the pool room! The covered patio was also nice to be able to still sit outside and enjoy the beautiful fall colors and cool breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely go back again!

Jaw Dropping

This property is AMAZING! From start to finish, this was by far the best vacation and best rental we have stayed at. Tim and Melanie are so kind. The house is like a dream come true, from the gate opening, to the parking pad, to the porches, to the dock & lake, to the pool room. Everything is just as listed. Hosts had great communication. It was like living as royalty for a week. My mother wants to buy some of the same decorations, like the lights to the dock and the kitchen lights. We explored the area, UP is just magical. I am so glad we made the drive there, so many treasures, especially this home. We are already planning to return!

Family Vacation

This property was amazing and in a secluded beautiful wooded area on the lake. My family thoroughly enjoyed our entire stay, the home was beautiful, the pool room was incredible. It was the unplugged vacation our family needed to break up the winter blues! The only complaint on my end is that there was no notification that toddlers weren’t allowed in the pool even with a waterproof swimmy style diaper. Other than that the hosts were great and communication was on time and helpful. We would definitely stay here again without question!!

The home shows much better than the photos. The drive to the property is worth the trip alone. We went over the first weekend in January so we spent a lot of time inside. The home was still all decked out for Christmas and very cozy. The kitchen is modern with everything you would need. The bathrooms are well-appointed. Our kids had a great time in the pool room and the adults enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. I can only imagine what it's like in the summer without the snow and all the lakefront options. It's not too far from Marquette and we took the kids there to visit the fun children's museum. There is also a well-stocked gas station/store in Michigamme just a few minutes away in case you need to pick up something you forgot. The owners were good to work with and we would certainly consider coming back.

Truly amazing property to make memories with your family

We have stayed quite a few places, but nothing compares to this property. The owners have done an amazing job with little touches that makes your vacation effortlessly easy and relaxing. We had four adults and a five year old in our party. Again, enough cannot be said about the care in which the owners express through the little touches, but also the welcome phone call to walk through the elements of the property. The pool, sauna, and hot tub were amazing. The kitchen and outdoor kitchen were my personal favorite. The dock and amount of seating options around the property and inside truly give everyone in your party an opportunity to catch a breathtaking view of the water. Inside, the decor and facilities were just amazing. The showers were inviting, and our little one loved the whirlpool upstairs. If you have the opportunity to stay, do it. Bring your family. We have built so many now cherished memories together from our stay. Special thank you to the owners!! JGK and family.

Avoid at all Costs

It’s unfortunate that VRBO will not allow you to reply to the owners response on your negative review. I assure you, they will do their best the paint the beautiful picture, say you should have left when you weren’t happy, (because who wouldn’t throw away $1,600), turn it against you and cover up their disgusting fetish. They did not have anything to say to “individuals such as myself” (Real Christian like) due to my expression of hand gestures towards the camera during our stay. One of our guests had a broken arm that had just been operated on. With the porch being covered in 3 ft of snow, he did not want to chance falling down the ice covered stairs. So he did smoke cigarettes, outside, on the porch, where all butts were disposed of properly. Per Hockaday’s you are only allowed to smoke on the northeast corner of the small section of gravel around the fire pit, under 5’ of snow. No where else. This was their justification to watching us live INSIDE THE CABIN! Which Mr. Hockaday, in writing, admitted to. If your into people watching your every move, this is the place to stay. That along with a 3 hour long lecture basically telling you to not touch anything or you will pay for it, fold out beds as comfortable as laying on a tarp, air mattresses that do not hold air, enough chemicals in the air to put down a small animal and a 10 mile drive into suecultion that makes you question if you will ever get to see your loved ones again. (Also, not close to the snowmobile trails) The Best Western is truly a better option.

GAS LEAK/REFUSAL TO REIMBURSE - AVOID THIS PREDATORY HOST AT ALL COSTS

Absolute worst holiday rental experience of my life. Admittedly there were a number of red flags to start, but the beauty of the cabin/property seemed to outweigh my concerns. HUGE mistake. After getting a 30-40 minute lecture of how the host typically does not rent to same sex groups (?), I was told that he still would "prefer not to cancel the reservation." As I would automatically lose half of our money, I could not afford to cancel on our end. So we arrived on the property on Thursday and by Friday morning, the heat seemed to be lacking. We attempted to shower and noted that there was zero hot water in the entire house. I contacted the host who asked that I check the breaker, no luck. After I was directed to crawl UNDER the house and check the water heater, I informed him that the error code read that there was no incoming gas. We also then noted that the gas stove/oven did not work. He sent out someone to look. At this time, we left the property to go to lunch. Upon returning we were informed that there had been a GAS LEAK overnight. That really should have been the end of it right there, but he informed us that "the leak had not been in the house." Mind you, we are stuck in the middle of nowhere in 20F Michigan winter weather with no heat, no hot water, no major kitchen appliances. We have no where to go. A refund was discussed at that time over phone only as the host will REFUSE to discuss anything over text or Vrbo app (convenient on his part). We were then informed that we would have to build a fire to heat the house the rest of the stay and that if we did so, a refund would be applied for 3 nights. He offered this on a future stay, but we insisted that it be applied to our current one. As we had no where else to go and were 7 hours from home, we complied and stayed on the property with the understanding that we would only pay for one night. By Saturday night, we had complete radio silence from the host when inquiring about our refund/when it would be applied. We attempted to call again on Sunday and Monday as we attempted check out. We cleaned up best we could, doused the fire and left the property. Vrbo was contacted. Basically this terrible host has now REFUSED ANY SORT OF REFUND AND ALSO IS ATTEMPTING TO CHARGE US $550 ADDITIONAL FOR SOME ERRONEOUS "DAMAGE CHARGE." We will be seeking legal action against this host for violation of contract (unsafe space) and exposing us to dangerous living conditions. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS HOST.

Our family had the best time making “lake life” memories at this cabin! The home was gorgeous. Loved the pool/sauna/spa, the master suite, lake deck access, all the various sitting areas—enjoyed it all. The kitchen was stocked with the pans/cookery needed, beds were comfortable…I could go on and on. And, while the location was deep in the woods (in a good way!), it was also close enough to do day trips to cliff jumping in Marquette and Pictured Rocks. Tim and Melanie were responsive hosts, and I would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from busy life. Thanks for sharing your home!

An incredibly beautiful secluded Northwoods retreat on a gorgeous lake and with every amenity and creature comfort inside and outside. Wonderfully informative and responsive hosts! The log home is striking with multiple indoor and outdoor seating spots, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, comfortable beds, bathrooms that include roomy showers and a two person jacuzzi tub, and a spa room that includes an exercise pool, a hot tub, and a sauna. My wife and I spent our fondest memories as children at our families' cottages. So we built our cabin to reflect what we have always loved "The Great Outdoors" We are both orginally from Canada but have since built ours lives in both USA and Canada.

Why they chose this property

We picked this property because of it's over whelming beauty. It is set on a private road, therefore it allows us the privacy we want when we wish. It is on Michigan's Upper Peninsula's largest inland lake so we can enjoy all the amenties this lake has to offer. It also lets us enjoy the winter sports we love so much right out our front door.

What makes this property unique

We built this home very customed to the lifestyles we enjoy so much. Every square inch of our home was designed with bringing the indoors and outdoors together.
