Welcome to Diubaig House on the Isle of Skye! We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. It is peaceful and secluded, and an impressively-sized detached stone cottage, which makes it perfect for a family holiday or romantic retreat. Sleeps 7 in 4 bedrooms: (1) super-king, (2) king, (3) twin (two singles that convert into super-king), (4) single. Loch views from every bedroom. No smoking, no pets as this is sheep country! Bed linens, towels included. Child-friendly.
Inside, the house is comfortable, light, and spacious, yet cosy. You’ll enter the house via a hall extension, which gives you plenty of space to leave boots and outdoor clothing. We have kitted out the kitchen as you’d expect to find a home away from home, including local stoneware. There’s comfy seating, a multi-fuel stove, and TV in the living room. There are four generous bedrooms, which can accommodate up to 7 guests. The main bedroom suite is on the ground floor, and has a super-king bed plus en-suite bathroom with shower cubicle, bidet, and toilet. There’s also a separate toilet and utility downstairs. Upstairs, you’ll find the other three bedrooms – a king-size with an en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet; twin bedroom (two singles, that can be converted into a super-king, depending on your requirements); and a single bedroom. Every bedroom has views of the loch, and high coombed ceilings. There is also a separate shower room with toilet, as well as a study upstairs, should you need some peace and quiet. We have provided a range of DVDs, our favourite board games, books, and guides in the upstairs hall, to keep you busy whilst at home and help you plan where to explore! We have decorated the house with a wide range of twentieth century and contemporary Scottish art, including local works.
Outside, our enclosed 3-acre garden contains secluded lawns and seating, and is a haven for wildlife. There are exceptional views across Loch Greshornish, and to the Trotternish Ridge. Your children can watch rabbits from the kitchen window, swallows circle the house and young lambs frolic in the nearby fields. There is also private parking for 4 or 5 cars, depending on size.

We spent a wonderful week in Dubaïg house, a green setting, surrounded by nature. The house is very well equiped, bed matress and linen are nice, decoration is pleasant. The house was clean and well prepared. Lots of walks around, lots of places to visit. We recommend it.
Duibaig house is perfect for the travellers that are willing to do few extra miles in order to experience Skye nature. The vue from the house is just splendid. The kitchen is very well appointed (way better than usual) for those that like to cook. The house is very spacious and bright, thanks to the skylight, and offer a lot of space to relax.
The property was spacious and comfortable with all mod cons, and well-equipped kitchen. Communication with the owners wasn't ideal, eg. we found the washing machine wasn't working, and didn't know that one was due to be delivered 4 days into our stay. Also, at the end, all the 13-amp sockets failed, and couldn't be fixed at the fuse box. I reported it to the owner (by voicemail, as they didn't answer the phone, and I had to drive to Dunvegan to get a phone signal), but we had to spend the last night with no fridge, tv, kettle, toaster, landline, or internet. If there had been an emergencey, there would have been no means of getting help. I did not received a message back from the owner, so have no idea what happened! Otherwise, we had a really lovely stay, and the countryside is unbelievably beautiful on Skye.

We are pleased that these guests enjoyed the house and we hope they enjoyed their time on Skye. We know it is disappointing when things are less than perfect and one of the risks of travelling to somewhere like Skye is that there is no appliance repair specialist on the island (he moved away) and new appliances are currently only delivered to the island once per week. We received a text message the day after arrival on behalf of (not directly from) the guests asking about a washing machine and complaining about the lack of toilet brushes. We explained that deliveries to the island are once per week and the soonest we could order a replacement was in the middle of the week, which is when it arrived to no inconvenience to the guests - we arranged for our gardener to be there oversee delivery and installation. We explained that we had removed toilet brushes for hygiene reasons due to the Covid risk of cross-contamination between guests but we arranged for 4 to be delivered to the house for these guests. They were unopened and unused by the guests. There is a landline in the house, which can be used to make calls (honesty box for payment) including to us. We did not receive any calls or text messages prior to the guests' departure other than the initial message about the washing machine and a lack of toilet brushes. Only when our housekeeper arrived on changeover day did it become clear that there was an issue of some kind with the electrics. There was no note or other communication from the guests, so we messaged to ask the person who had sent the initial message on behalf of the guests what had happened and were told the fridge had stopped working the night before. The fuse box had tripped and was reset. As we did not know if the issue was the fridge freezer or something else, we bought a new fridge freezer and put it in the property as a spare and our electrician investigated and isolated the fault. We have left the spare fridge freezer in the property for now in case there is a remote possibility that some fault remains with our original fridge freezer but there have not been any further issues.
Really enjoyed our stay. Not the easiest place to get to but well worth the effort and the remoteness added to the charm. There were 5 of us and we found it very comfortable. Well catered for all ages. On the day we were leaving our granddaughter said “I love this house” as we watched dolphins in the loch from the garden - she must have read our minds. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back next year.
