Lilla Stenkulla is a charming traditional Swedish summer house on Stegesund, a peaceful car-free island in the Stockholm Archipelago just outside Vaxholm. The house sits directly by the sea on its own 2,000 m² waterfront property, with a private jetty, swimming access and beautiful water views in two directions.

Here you can enjoy the peace and seclusion of a classic Swedish archipelago island while still being within easy reach of Vaxholm – just 10 minutes away by boat – and central Stockholm, approximately one hour away by archipelago ferry.

Start the morning with a swim from your own jetty, followed by breakfast on the kitchen veranda overlooking the water and the morning sun.
On the south side of the house, a large terrace with dining area and barbecue is perfect for long summer lunches and dinners, with beautiful water views towards the southwest.

The mature 2,000 m² garden offers generous lawns and an abundance of summer flowers, including lilacs, rhododendrons and peonies.
There is plenty of space for children to play, for relaxing in the garden or simply finding a quiet spot in the shade with a book and the sea only a few steps away.

Lilla Stenkulla accommodates up to six guests and offers:

Stegesund is a peaceful car-free island known for its remarkably well-preserved collection of traditional Swedish archipelago villas dating from around the turn of the 20th century. The island's quiet gravel road is ideal for walking and jogging, and there is also a tennis court. Surrounded by water, you are never far from the sea.

Lilla Stenkulla forms part of the historic Stenkulla Gård estate but enjoys a secluded position on its own 2,000 m² waterfront property.

Despite its peaceful island setting, Lilla Stenkulla is surprisingly easy to reach. Regular archipelago ferries call at Stegesund several times a day. Vaxholm is approximately 10 minutes away by boat, while central Stockholm can be reached in around one hour by archipelago ferry.

Vaxholm – often referred to as the capital of the Stockholm Archipelago – has restaurants, cafés, bakeries, grocery stores and small shops, as well as historic Vaxholm Fortress. It is also an excellent starting point for exploring the wider Stockholm Archipelago by boat. Water taxis are available from Vaxholm, and parking is available on the mainland.

Stenkulla Gård has been in Johan Nordquist's possession since 2002 and has gradually been upgraded and renovated to the treasure it is today. Here we celebrate Easter, Midsummer, birthdays. Numerous summer lunches have been held with family and friends. Johan is self-employed, married, with six children and lives in downtown Stockholm.
