Prepare an evening meal or a hearty breakfast in the pristine and well-equipped modern kitchen, before settling at the dining table to discuss the days events. The kitchen is open plan with the living/dining area, which has a 4-seater corner sofa, a 32" Freeview TV and a dining table with four chairs. Leading off from this area are the two double bedrooms and a shower room. Guests have their own private outdoor seating area with a patio, perfect for soaking up the sun with a refreshing drink in hand. The popular town of Topsham is just 1½ miles away from the property. Lying on the banks of the River Exe, the town has an ‘olde worlde’ charm all of its own and is ideally located between the cathedral city of Exeter, just 5 miles away, and the seaside resort of Exmouth, which is 8 miles away.

First an ancient Roman settlement, Topsham became a Charter Town in 1300 and developed into a major British port renowned for shipbuilding. A stroll around its fascinating streets and passageways will reveal unique and quirky buildings with Dutch-style houses from its maritime past built by merchants in the 17th century, and fine examples of Georgian and Edwardian architecture. There are river walks and wildlife to be enjoyed with many a quiet place to sit and watch the sailing boats go by. There is also a Saturday morning market, an abundance of characterful shops, restaurants and inns, and the Quay Centre selling its wares of antiques, bygones and collectables.

Day trips are easily organised with regular buses to Exeter and Exmouth, and by train to Exeter, Exmouth or further along the coast to Torbay. There are boat trips to be enjoyed from Topsham, and bicycle hire is available to explore the Exe Estuary Trail of the National Cycle Network (Route 2) with access to both sides of the river.

Travel into the thriving city of Exeter where you can explore the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter Cathedral or the Underground Passages for a spot of history. Animal lovers will delight in visiting the Devon Wildlife Trust with a range of exotic animals to spot and giving ample walking opportunities.

Lovely stay

Lovely place to stay! Felt far away to escape the madness of the world but close enough to venture out to experience the delights of the area.

Rose Corner is a lovely, modern ground floor annex to the owner’s home.

Rose Corner is a lovely, modern ground floor annex to the owner’s home. Sue warmly welcomed us and gave us space the rest of our week there. The annex has all the mod cons, is well equipped, and has a private, contained patio area with outdoor furniture. The shared garden isn’t enclosed, however, and if you bring a dog as we did, supervision is needed. The immediate area has very limited dog walking, but Woodbury Common or Darts Farm fields are just a 10 minute or so drive away. Rose Corner is very convenient for the M5, the Exeter Chiefs’ rugby stadium, and a drive into Exeter. A very comfortable annex. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had the pleasure of being the first family to stay at Rose Corner.

We had the pleasure of being the first family to stay at Rose Corner. Sue the owner was a wonderful host and we were met with scones, cream, jam, milk & bread on arrival nothing was too much to ask for and she was a wealth of information for all the local pubs, restaurants and places to visit. The cottage was perfect for our needs & our dog was made most welcome. All of the fixtures and fittings were of a high standard, making it a lovely place to stay. We will definitely stay here again.
