Very comfortable and convenient for the Motorway

We stayed in one of the Cottages at the back of the hotel. It was really quiet and spacious. We had somewhere safe to store our bicycles ( which was very important to us). The food was home cooked and tasted good.

Very comfortable stay on our way to family for Christmas.

Accommodation warm and had everything we needed. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast super - almost too much! We had been looking for a halfway stop in Moffat for some while as this is a regular journey that we take. We have now found it and will return. Thank you everyone at the Balmoral and Happy New Year.

Good location, very restricted on-site parking and overpriced for the very small room we had

We booked this hotel based on location. We did not realise that we would be based in a room in the annexe which was so small we ended up having to put up the ironing board to accommodate our medium sized suitcase, the hanging space is completely inadequate. En-suite facilities again very small with no space for toiletries. On reflection we would have been better off financially booking into one of the budget hotels nearby with bigger rooms, better parking and a much better breakfast

Excellent location and value

We were in one of the garden cottages. Lots of room, nothing fancy but spotless. Food was good quality simple dishes (nothing pretentious) at very reasonable prices. Bar prices are also very fair. Excellent location with easy access to and from the M74. Only criticism is that the wifi was not working, made worse by poor 4G reception in the cottage. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot work out the 1 to 5 ratings (1 high or low?) Most things were above average.

Excellent accommodation!

A very old inn , full of character and popular with the locals. Better than expected accommodation. We had a cottage to begin with which was very clean, spacious and an extremely comfortable bed. Food was excellent both breakfast and evening meals with a good choice. We decided to extend our stay and were moved to room 15 to the front and on the ground floor of the hotel. Again it was very spacious, very modern and had everything for a most comfortable stay. Definitely recommend!

A perfect stay all round

The Balmoral is the perfect place to stay be it for work or leisure. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped. A fridge with complementary water and Coca Cola, combined with an excellent selection of tea and coffee. biscuits and chocolates all serve to provide the key things you might want or need. The food menu is wide ranging and the staff cannot be bettered.

Comfortable and quiet

I stayed in one of the cottages, which was spacious, comfortable and at night quiet. On the whole I liked the food served in the bar. which was inexpensive and unpretentious.

Good location, the cottage was great, enjoyed our stay

The cottage with it's own garden was peaceful and well equipped. Some lovely, welcoming touches, such as fresh milk, biscuits and chocolates. To elevate the stay further, I would suggest changing the seating in the living area. The sofa was comfortable for 2, if 3 were staying could do with an armchair too. The sofa's cover was ill fitting, so detracted slightly from the lovely space. Enjoyed our stay, only too short. The breakfast was good and evening meals very tasty.
