About this property

The Tansy House on Queen street

This 3 story ‘Tardis’ in the centre of York is perfect for entertaining and enjoying company while being in the heart of York.
Based over three floors, the entrance leads you up the first flight of stairs to the first two king (or twin beds on request) bedrooms, the first bedroom overlooks the city walls and the second bedroom overlooks the garden. All rooms have brilliant secondary glazing so even though you are in the heart of York, it is still quiet, combined with the hotel quality, crisp, white bedding, you are sure to enjoy a good night's sleep.

There is also a bathroom with a large walk-in shower - complete with fluffy white towels and toiletries to use during your stay.

As you enter the main living space on the ground floor, you’ll find a unique space with wine box shelving, a penny splash back and modern kitchen. There is a sofa, a large dining table with seating for 8 and 43" Toshiba 4K Smart TV.
The kitchen has all the essentials you would need to cook a meal or enjoy a takeaway, with a large American-style fridge with a ice machine- this space is perfect for entertaining.

On arrival you will be welcomed with a tea and coffee hamper and not forgetting a traditional cake to enjoy during your stay!

Then heading down into the cellar, with the original brickwork and stone steps, along with treasured finds we discovered while renovating the house - there is lots of character to be found!

Here you will find the third double room with views of the courtyard, there is also a second toilet and of course the cinema room!

The cinema room is a brilliant space - there are large comfy sofas to relax in. The screen is hidden in the celling but can be brought down by the touch of a button to watch your favourite film after a busy day in York (you have access to Amazon video and a Blue Ray player if you would like to bring any of your favourite films)

One parking space included!

Perfect city centre location with amazing cinema room
This was our second visit to the Tansy House, we're a family of five and love that the house is so close to the city centre, so ideal for visiting the shops, bars and restaurants in York. The house is also big enough for when we're all together or needing time apart!

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
No blinds in the kitchen and overlooked by the hotel directly behind the house. No blinds in bathroo
Location was good. Noisy out the front traffic and groups of Hen and Stag parties passing by. The three bedrooms had only one wardrobe and no drawers or dressing tables. Light bulbs in kitchen and cooker hood not working. No door locks on bathroom or toilet. Also needs a door in the downstairs living area as the noise keeps the person awake in their bedroom directly behind us. The sliding door in the kitchen kept stuck so difficult to open and close.

With a free pass to park in the NCP car park at the end of the road, a friendly taxi rank next door, the train and bus station across the bridge and a direct road out to the A64, which can lead to anywhere in the U.K., it’s easy to get here, but once you have arrived the best way to see York is by foot and as you are just a minute away from getting on to the city walls you can get access to the best views and attractions the city has to offer!
From the community spirit of one of the UKs top high streets (Bishy Road), beautiful river walks, just a gallop away from the Racecourse, the convenience of the train station, a stones throw from course Micklegate Bar which leads into the city centre- we believe Queen street has all you need to make the most of this incredible city- and so central you have views of the city wall!
