Charming and very comfortable apartment, on the 1st floor of a residential building in the heart of the historic area of Madragoa / Lapa, one of the most charismatic neighborhoods in Lisbon. Surrounded by dozens of restaurants and cafés and close to the Tagus River. The perfect place to explore the city on foot and feel like a real place.
 
The apartment is located on the very calm border, between the neighborhood of Madragoa (popular, authentic, historic) and the neighborhood of Lapa (neighborhood of upper / upper middle class), which causes an enriching social mix and contrasts. The proximity of the Tagus River, allows long walks along the bank where you can stop for a drink and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
Among many of the architectural works in Madragoa / Lapa we can highlight the Palace of the Dukes of Aveiro, the Casa dos Marqueses de Abrantes and the oldest and most modest of Lisbon's chapels, that of the Martyrs. Also there is the Embassy of France, where Gil Vicente (after the Castle of São Jorge), started the Portuguese theater. 
You will also find dozens of restaurants, from the most typical Portuguese to the most sophisticated, all within walking distance, as well as cafés and also close to the nightlife area of Santos bars. All this within minutes on foot!

Cute apartment in Santos

Great little space right in the middle of a trendy little area of Santos. There is plenty of bars, restaurants, and cafes only a couple of steps away from the apartment. Check in was great and easy, joaquim stayed around whilst we had to drive around the block. Only 20 minute walk to the middle of old town, or a 5 minute walk to the train station.

NOT a Charming apartment !!

Overall - This apartment is not as the description portrays. Please note for US tourists there is NO AIR-CONDITIONING in this apartment, so if you are staying there anytime from June through September it will be uncomfortably hot. We also experienced a non working fridge freezer, a bathroom door that would not close, broken furniture etc We moved out after the first night and went into a hotel. We had a joint call with VRBO and the host and he was swearing and rude. Recommended to avoid this one, it’s just a locals old apartment not brought up to standard for foreign visitors in our opinion.

Lovely flat - management needs improvement

We were unable to arrange to check in a half hour early (2:30pm instead of 3pm) so had to wait with our bags outside. When the rep arrived she said we had to leave the flat for several hours as the cleaners had not prepared it - beds were unmade, and the place not cleaned. We refused and they offered us one free day in compensation. The flat is cute, well-provisioned, in a good location, but large insects kept appearing on the walls and floor. Turns out they were cockroaches which didn't run away or hide during the day (unusual). They were easily squished, but were not a welcome sight.
