This property was the perfect weekend trip away, with it being fairly modern. The owner had left some essential products which was a lovely touch, we were able to check in early which was perfect as we had arrived a lot earlier than expected. We was blown away with how nice is was and how spacious it was. The parking out the front was okay but found it hard during the week day with two cars. On my google maps it took us to another place but it is on the main road to your left going up the hill. Would highly recommend.
Fiona and Tim have a great house and the photos are not doing the house justice! Close to plenty of things to do and short drive to Woolacombe beach. It’s in the middle of a council estate and parking is difficult and the trek up to the house was a pretty long and steep! However once in the house it’s like you’re transported and you don’t see the estate that you’re in. The beds are very very soft and lots of us were struggling with our backs. The value for money is 10/10. Overall rating 8/10. I would use again!

Thank you for your review. Sorry you found the beds were too soft. Just to say the house is not in the middle of a council estate it is an elevated detached property that is on the other side of the road from a small estate and in its own grounds with private entrance.
The property itself was great, and exactly as advertised. The hosts were really friendly and communicative. They also left us some staples in the kitchen (tea, coffee, bread, milk, orange juice etc). Which was lovely. The parking situation however was a real pain. Parking is on the road (which is noted on the listing). Though, the road get’s busy. So, on some days we were able to park relatively close. On other days, we had to park several minutes walk away. A situation not helped by a land slip, that has cut off some of the road.I would also note that access to the property, is up a steep slope (and/or steep narrow steps). Therefore, it is probably not suitable for anyone who isn’t 100% sure footed (it’s also a challenge with heavy/bulky luggage). For the three of us guys on a long weekend golf trip, it was perfectly fine. However, would not be the property for everyone.

Family holiday
The property is very good and the terrace excellent, the back garden is steep. The main problem is the access, up a long slope or steps and then a narrow steep climb to the house.
Parking was also a major issue as the residents of a long terrace take up most of the parking most of the time, some never moved the whole week we were there.
The process of booking the property was excellent along the the communication with Fiona who was always swift with her replies.
The property was in excellent condition and was fully equipped.
The only down side was parking on the road.
However we had a fantastic holiday with glorious weather in what is a lovely property.
With 6 adults of differing ages, Falkland House gave us the space to 'do your own thing' only a short walk from Ilfracombe. For the younger members of the group, the location near many of the surfing beaches such as Croyde, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Westward Ho was ideal. For more leisurely pursuits there were Exmoor (Tarr Steps and Tarr Farm Inn highly recommended), Dunster Castle, RHS Rosemoor, Hartland Abbey etc. Great location, great property.
The house is beautiful with attention paid to every last detail. Fiona was extremely quick to respond to emails and we had everything we needed during our stay. There is plenty of space inside and the property photos do not truly reflect the tasteful interiors of each room. Fiona was very generous with everything being provided including a large selection of goodies on our arrival.
We hope to return again soon!
Excellent all round venue with the exception of the access with luggage and food etc.
Overall a wonderful few days with great accommodation.and attention to detail.
Couple night stay with some friends and the house was brilliant. Had everything we needed. Short walk into town. Would stay there again if heading that way.
A wonderful property, immaculately equipped and very comfortable. We really enjoyed it. Guests should be aware that it's quite a pull up from the road to the house, but not an issue for our party. We would highly recommend it.
We had a lovely week staying in this beautiful house. Well equipped, clean and comfortable for grandparents and children alike! Good location for Ilfracombe and nearby towns and beaches. Useful local information left by host Fiona with recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. A lovely home-from-home for any family. Would definitely recommend!

So pleased you had a good stay and enjoyed the house. It's great to get feedback and we would like to thank you for leaving the house so immaculate.
As a family of 7 with 5 adults and 2 children, this was a perfect 'home away from home' - plenty of space both inside and out, the big living space inside ideal when weather not playing ball and then loads of terrace and garden space when the sun does shine which the kids loved! Especially liked the huge dining room table and kitchen area that allowed for family dinners together and games nights. Thank-you to the hosts (Fiona) for ease of communication whilst booking and for the detailed check in info and info pack on the area. Hopefully we'll be back!

The house is lovely. Very nicely done, well equipped, with views across to trees and houses. Hosts/contacts super helpful. The parking is on the street, from where a steep, narrow and uneven path takes you up to the house. Fine for us and our teenagers, worth knowing if you’re unsteady on your feet or need buggies or have little children.
Our family (two adults, one boy and one girl) really enjoyed our stay at Falkland House. The house is filled with natural light and all the rooms are a good size and well furnished, the kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of bathrooms and a downstairs toilet too so no disappointment inside. You won't be disappointed outside either as the outside space is very private and there are views across the valley from both the front and rear garden. The front terrace is a sun trap all afternoon until sunset and the rear (upper) terrace is good for a sunny al fresco breakfast. It is worth noting that the (on street) parking at the house is a bit hit and miss but, for us, it was always possible to find a parking space. There is a short walk up a path with an incline to get to the house but it is worth the effort. A nice touch was that, on arrival, there was a lovely selection of food and essentials for us to use. This was perfect for us as our supermarket delivery was an hour or so after we'd arrived.
In summary, the house is a very relaxing home away from home and we'd definitely recommend a stay here.

The Cube has been sympathetically renovated
The house was perfect accommodation for our family of 6 adults and a 4 and 1+ year old. Plenty of room to spread out and the outdoor area at the front was ideal for the children to play in. The welcome pack was a very kind gesture and provided us with essentials on arrival. The house was equipped with everything you would require on holiday.
The access to the property was via a narrow, uneven, uphill path, which could cause problems for anyone with walking difficulties.
Fortunately, we had good weather, so as a base, the property was ideal for exploring North Devon.

Thank you for your review. w are very glad that you were able to make the most of the outdoor space and hope that had a relaxing family time.
We hugely enjoyed our stay at ‘The Cube’ and would not hesitate to recommend staying there. Watching the sunsets from the front or rear terraces each evening was wonderful. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into how the property was renovated, with fantastic corner windows really letting you enjoy the views of the hills.
The property was very well equipped with everything a travelling family would need, and thank you for the welcome pack on arrival ensuring we had the basics after a long drive. The beds were comfy, the showers were great, and nice to see things like oil & herbs provided in the kitchen.
Communication with the owners was quick & easy. Parking is on road (only had any trouble finding a space at the weekend), with a steep walk up to the property from the road - not easy with everything a travelling young family brings - but manageable.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

About the host
Hosted by Fiona
We moved from Bristol to Ilfracombe 18years ago and love all that it has to offer. We have two children. I am a ceramicist and sell my work throughout the uk. My partner is a carpenter and has designed, built and renovated many houses. We bought the Cube in 2020 as a semi derelict property and have completed an extension and total renovation.
Why they chose this property
We bought the Cube because of its detached and elevated position set in its own garden. This means that it is quiet has lots of wildlife and great views whilst benefitting from being near to town, countryside and beaches. It is a sunny haven.
What makes this property unique
The Cube sits on a west facing bank and has sun all day. The outside spaces are real sun traps. It has far reaching views across the tors and the valley. Open the bi fold doors off he dining room and enjoy a peaceful breakfast with bird song on the front terrace. Or watch the sun go down.
