About this property

Stable Cottage With Stunning Views Of The Cairngorm Mountains And Local Wildlife

Stable cottage is a small cottage based in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. It is one of three adjacent cottages which share the garden and washing/drying room.

We offer a combined fully equipped living, kitchen and dining room which also contains two single pull out beds. There is a huge wet room with accessible toilet and shower.

The whole cottage is wheelchair accessible, is freshly painted and decorated with original paintings, and contains all you need for a comfortable stay.

The main thing our guests comment on is the setting at the foothills of the Monadhliath mountains with views over the Cairngorms. We are located above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. In the foreground are sheep and lambs, as we are in a crofting area, together with lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottages well equipped, warm and comfortable. The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides.

Proper Dog Friendly Cairngorms Retreat

Ann and Ian were great, it’s nice to find dog friendly accommodation, where the owners actually understand active dogs! We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was clean, tidy and cosy, also very well equipped. The cottage is perfectly located to enjoy the surroundings; with amazing trails right from the door step. Good value for money accommodation in a fantastic location, what’s not to like!!!

Awesome location in Newtonmore

Excellent location and welcoming hosts. They even allow pets to stay with us. Lots of open area around the property and even a small area for the dogs to play ! . However, the rooms are a bit small (we are a bit claustrophobic may that's the reason) and could have been a lot cleaner (quite a lot of dust probably due to not much occupancy , but not a reason to be not clean hopefully). Just a small suggestion , if you could add ( a willing neighbour ) as a kennel partner, it would really great with people who travel with their pets. Best Regards

Thank you for your stay and review Ranjit. I am sorry that you found the rooms dusty. We take cleaning seriously so are sorry to hear this. The cottage was prepared the week before your stay. There will always be some dust present though, since part of our Covid policy is to air the property again after cleaning and we are in a quite dusty rural area. There are a number of good professional dog walkers in the area, and I am happy to put guests in touch with them, but advance booking will be needed.

Prima verblijf

About the host

Hosted by anne bridgen

Host profile image

My husband and I (Anne) are keen mountaineers and mountain bikers and I love skiing so we can give you lots of information about these pastimes. We also enjoy the arts, both painting and photography. I also run fused glass courses at my studio in the village (at additional cost). We can therefore advise on suitable photography or sketching locations as well as on local art exhibitions.

Why they chose this property

We cater primarily for couples and small groups who like walking and who come with pets.

What makes this property unique

We have never lived anywhere where we feel so in touch with nature. Although only 0.5 mile from the village it is several hundred feet higher up and is a world apart -really quiet, peaceful and remote feeling. Hares come up to the back door and we sometimes even have eages flying overhead. Some people even come to view the stars and, if you ask us nicely, we might let you look through our telescope!
