About this property

Cosy Bothy | Heart of Picturesque Solva Village

Summary:

Salt & City Stays are delighted to introduce Y Bothy, a charming one-bedroom cottage in the heart of picturesque Solva. Tucked away on a quiet private road, it’s just moments from the harbour, restaurants, pubs, independent shops and Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Perfect for couples, Y Bothy offers a cosy base for exploring the stunning St Davids Peninsula, with everything you need for a relaxing coastal getaway.

The Space:

Step into Y Bothy and you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a gas hob, washer/dryer, small fridge/freezer and everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay. Enjoy your morning coffee from the Nespresso machine before settling around the dining table for breakfast, or prepare a relaxed supper after a day exploring the area.

Through the oak cottage door is the cosy living room, complete with a comfortable corner sofa, Smart TV with Netflix, books and board games. The sofa also converts into a double sofa bed, allowing Y Bothy to comfortably sleep up to four guests.

The ground floor also features a bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower, basin and heated towel rail.

Upstairs, you'll find the cosy double bedroom with an ensuite WC and plenty of clothes storage. The Velux window looks out towards the garden and woodland beyond, while the peaceful setting on a quiet lane makes it an ideal spot for a restful night's sleep.

Outside, you'll find the garden patio on the first tier of the garden, with a dining area and access to the built-in BBQ — perfect for summer evenings dining al fresco.

Parking is included, with a permit for the local car park just a two-minute walk away. There's also plenty of space outside the cottage to load and unload, making arrival and departure easy.

Guest Access:

You have the entire cottage, and the first level of the tiered garden, to yourself. You may use the charcoal BBQ on the next level.

The Neighborhood:

Solva Harbour

Just a 2-minute walk from the cottage, there is always something to watch in this lovely harbour. It's the perfect spot for open water swimming, crabbing, jumping off the quay, paddleboarding, fishing, kayaking and much more. There's even a small beach that appears as the tide drops.

Enjoy access to the coast path in both directions taking you to stunning local beaches and local areas of interest, including St Davids. Alternatively, take the footpaths inland for woodland walks and stunning countryside views.

Solva Village

The long main street is full of pubs, cafes and shops. The Cambrian, Mamgu's and Cafe 35 are favourite places to eat. Enjoy a drink watching the boats from the Harbour Inn. Local crab and produce can all be purchased in the village, and Bay View stores have everything you need to stock up. Please take a look through our welcome guide for more recommendations.

Solva Woollen Mill

Spend a lovely afternoon at Solva Woollen Mill – the oldest working woollen mill in the county. Lots of woollen goods to choose from in the shop or stop for afternoon tea in the café.

St Davids

It's a 12 minute drive to St David's with its stunning Cathedral, medieval Bishops Palace, restaurants and shops. Take a boat trip around Ramsey Island and enjoy the wonderful sea birds, dolphins and wildlife.

Porthgain

The harbour village of Porthgain is a must with its art gallery, local pub and fish and chip bistro. Walk the Coast Path over to the Blue Lagoon at Aberieddy – famed for the Red Bull Cliff Diving.

Cosy cottage in great location

The cottage was perfect for our few days in Solva. It was comfortable and quiet, despite being right in the centre of the village. It's a beautiful area and we loved it.

A perfect location

Although conveniently located just off the main route between Haverfordwest & St David’s, the cottage is also tucked away in a quiet location literally just a stone’s throw from the beach, harbour, eateries & everything else Solva has to offer. Solva is a wonderful location - vibrant & beautiful. The cottage is compact, cosy and well appointed - a perfect location in beautiful Pembrokeshire

Mr

We stayed at this property on the 2nd and 3rd June 2024. The property was as described on the internet. It had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. We enjoyed our short break in Solva and surrounding area.

The location is perfect for Solva, just off the harbour. The outdoor space was also a bonus. Although the property is small, it is very well thought out to maximise your stay. Especially with a toilet in the bedroom and the shower room and toilet off the living area, so if people sleeping on the bed settee, you all have your own toilet to use with put disturbing everyone. The kitchen although small was well stocked and perfect for the size if the property. Again so important for us in addition to the location was that it was dog friendly. Another bonus was the fact you can unload the car at the property and then you have a parking permit for the car park, which is only a few minutes walk from the property.Booking and communication was very good, and the Welsh cakes and milk in the fridge upon arrival was very kind.Would recommend this property and will definitely stay here again when in Solva xx
