About this property

The Ridgeway - an apartment that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

The Ridgeway is a beautiful Victorian property, with many personal touches to create a 'home from home' feel and ideal for those wishing to be close to all local amenities but just out of the way of traffic and crowds.

The fully enclosed south facing patio has wonderful views to the fells for perfect al fresco dining. Private parking is allocated opposite for one car.

The large, bright lounge with high ceilings on the first floor has a fabulous bay window looking out over Keswick to Catbells and the fells beyond. There are two large sofas and an open fire for cosy winter nights, with dining table in the picture postcard bay window. There is a Smart TV, DVD and games console with blue-tooth DAB Radio / CD player and plenty of Lakeland guides.

The twin bedroom with new oak furniture (chest of drawers and wardrobe) and DAB radio is also on the first floor with lovely views towards Latrigg. This room can be converted to a King-size bed upon request.

The first floor bathroom is fully tiled and has a double ended bath, separate shower cubicle, towel rail and wash hand basin. There is a separate WC on this floor.

On the ground floor there is a bright double bedroom with a leather sofa positioned in the bay window overlooking the patio/garden. There is a double bed, with plenty of storage, a flat screen TV/DVD, dressing table and lovely high ceilings. Both bedrooms are dressed with luxury linens and fresh white fluffy towels.

The very modern kitchen is also on the ground floor with newly fitted units, granite worktops, built in electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and breakfast bar, with well stocked cupboards with everything you would need on a self-catering holiday.

There is a sizeable utility room at the back of the apartment for walking gear and bikes, providing rear access to the street.

The downstairs shower room has a shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Great property in a central location

Stayed numerous times in this property and staying again next year. Well equipped with everything you need to stay in a great central location with easy access to pubs/shops but still on a quiet street.

Comfortable accommodation

The Accommodation we booked through Keswick Cottages, is a lovely place to rest and recuperate after a days walking. The beds are very comfortable and afforded a great nights sleep. The apartment is centrally located in Keswick and good for all the amenities the town has to offer. We enjoy staying here having stayed here on two previous occasions.

Great spot

The Ridgeway is in a great location, lots of walks from the door and perfect for town. The accommodation was very well equipped on particular the kitchen. There is everything you need for preparing and cooking meals. We found the beds to be extremely comfortable, the best we have come across in a long time. It was also nice to have a bathroom on each floor. It was lovely to have somewhere to sit out, as the weather was so nice.

Handsome building in excellent condition. Good location for town centre, shops and restaurants and bus station. Reasonable distance from parks and theatre. Kitchen modern with good facilities, nice bathrooms and bedrooms, good to have option of 2 double beds.

Excellent location

Great location, easy walk into town & nearby park. Great views from the lounge. We found the side access straight into the utility room particularly useful for bringing a very muddy dog indoors. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you.

Just the ticket

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was comfortable and clean, with lovely views from the lounge window. Good to have lots of books and games provided. And we made use of the front patio on a few occasions. The parking space is a bonus. We thought it was in an excellent location in the town, a quiet no through round but the benefit of being staggering distance to all the pubs, restaurants and shops. We would definitely book again!

Great location

Great location with a parking space. Beds very comfortable. Upstairs bathroom very good. Some crockery in kitchen disappointing otherwise well equipped. Downstairs shower room floor was soaking wet on arrival, on third day used kitchen roll to dry it and it stayed dry then. Fabulous views from upstairs lounge, excellent book selection. Airing wardrobes and drawers may be beneficial.

Beautiful home from home in a perfect location

We stayed here with our two teenage children and dog for a week in August and couldn’t be more pleased. The house is well maintained, comfortable, clean and very well equipped - a real home away from home. It’s ideally located for trips into town and also for fell walking. The views from the property are stunning. We’ll be back

Perfect Location for Lake District exploring

Traveled to the Lake District for the first time from the US so did not know much abut the area before but luckily found this accommodation in the perfect location. The layout with one bedroom on the ground floor was bit unusual but it did allow for privacy and quiet between the 2 bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and the 2 bathrooms were clean with plenty of hot water to warm up after a chilly day. The house did take a while to heat up so take that in mind.

Mid September 2025 Week Break

I stopped at the Ridgeway with my father for a week. The property is very centrally located with a dedicated parking space that is really useful for the general area (not a huge space if the others are in use and you have a big car, but I have a Focus and it was great). The Ridgeway is the entrance on the ground floor but the apartment has 2 levels and a lovely view from the dining table (see the site photo gallery). Kitchen was very well equipped and suitable for a wide variety of cooking. Beds and bedrooms very comfortable. Heating worked really well which was useful as we were there on a bad week for wind and rain! Lots of books and DVDs left by the owners in case of needing a quiet day in and also some good information on walks and stuff. Nice utility room for drying stuff out too. WiFi excellent too. Keswick Cottages were very responsive to a couple of queries I had. I'd definitely stay again as I didn't want to leave

A living room with a view

The house is very comfortable and spacious. It is well-equipped and the dog welcome pack was a lovely touch. The view from the living room was stunning as we could see the hills as we were eating breakfast. It was really good to have 2 toilets, although the downstairs one was a bit chilly as it didn't have a radiator, but there was a fan heater. Otherwise we had a lovely break in a great location.

Strategic location

Right in the centre of town with easy access to the shops. Lovely view of fells from dining area and abundance of books to inspire exploration. The property is multilevel which could prove challenging for some. Modern kitchen comprehensively equipped far better than experienced elsewhere, but detachment from the dining room via steep stairs was less than ideal. Utility area very useful however, being basement, always felt to be slightly damp as did the modern downstairs bathroom. Notwithstanding the spacious bathroom next door, a hand basin in the upstairs WC would be helpful. Parking can be a bit tricky if others ignore the signage but the town centre location reduces car use. Enthusiastic customer service from Keswick Cottages before, during and after the rental and the owners went out of their way to assist us with grocery delivery when we were delayed by road closure.

This was the fifth time we have stayed at The Ridgeway. Lovely property in brilliant location. Excellent customer service all round and our two Border Terriers loved the doggie welcome packs!

Large apartment in a great location with lovely views

The property is a little quirky, with the kitchen, utility room and master king room downstairs and living room with great views plus another bedroom and main bathroom upstairs. Having a utility room is great and we hired a baby gate to replicate sleeping arrangements for our dog at home. There is also a really useful entrance hall from the front, which is ideal for removing boots before going into the property. The bed and furniture is comfortable in our opinion. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything worked well. As always with Keswick Cottages the property was very clean and well presented. There is a parking space which we used. This being Keswick, once in the space we hardly moved the car. The space is tight and we wouldn’t have wanted to be moving every day. We have quite a big car and a smaller car would be easier. The apartment above was a little noisy the last couple of days of our stay, which did unsettle our dog. We were pleased it was empty for the first part of the week. All in all great to be so central with parking. There’s even a gap through to the Rawnsley Car Park where there’s some green space to ‘water’ the dog before bedtime, etc, so very handy.

Hiking nirvana

From booking to check out everything was so easy. Communication was excellent and detailed. We spent a good bit of time hiking the nearby trails then enjoying a pint in one of the lovely pubs in town. An easy walk to a great market for those that wish to cook. It has great hiking snacks as well. Fell in love with the chicken chorizo scotch egg, it may be the perfect hiking snack. Be sure to stop by one of the many pubs for great beer and food. Keswick is very dog friendly and we loved sitting with a pint watching the dogs and chatting with owners. Be aware the property is multi level and the stairs may seem worse after the Skiddaw climb. We are planning our return visit.

Great location and lovely views

We enjoyed our 3 night stay as The Ridgeway is in an ideal location for walking into Keswick and also reaching 2 supermarkets. Apartment is comfortable, beds and linen very nice. Kitchen well stocked, just be aware all the knives need sharpening as they’re completely blunt! Views from the first floor living room lovely, also nice and bright The downstairs shower room works fine but the shower itself is very small so would be awkward to use for anyone larger than a size 12 woman Weather not good enough for us to sit out but there is a private patio area which will get the sun afternoon/evening A single parking space, bit tight for an average size car ( focus) but very convenient at the front of house

A great base

Three of us plus a dog stayed there . The Ridgeway was very clean & comfortable. The kitchen was really well equipped. It is an excellent base for staying in the Lakes & has its own dedicated car space which is a bonus in Keswick . Wonderful views over to the hills from the dining room . Would definitely stay there again easy access to the town & shops . We were also lucky to have brilliant weather .

Lovely property

The Ridgeway met all my expectations in terms of facilities and items provided. I’ve never had a property with a cocktail shaker and cocktail glasses before! When I raised a small issue with Keswick Cottages it was dealt with very promptly. All the staff I spoke to were pleasant and courteous. Being close to both the town centre and the bus station was ideal. Only the steep hill to the property presented a challenge! My daughter and son-in-law are keen cyclists, and the rear access and the utility room meant the property met their requirements for access and safe storage. Overall, a lovely property!

Weekend Away

Had a really comfortable stay at The Ridgeway after deciding to book for the weekend on the spur of the moment. Great location near the centre of Keswick yet fairly quiet. Beautiful well equipped kitchen. Lovely bathroom with a lovely deep bath. Great views from the lounge over towards Catbells and the Newlands Valley. Booked a number of times with Keswick Cottages at various locations and never disappointed.

Fabulous House

This is the seventh time staying at the Ridgeway. It’s a perfect place to stay and all within walking distance to the town centre, lake and surrounding parks. Plus it has its own parking space. The house is perfect for us and our two little dogs as it has a secure front garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and well stocked. Beautiful views from the living room. Highly recommend this property.

Great 2 bed house with enclosed front yard, 100 yards from the main street. Central location and also close to park and river greta. Great for dog walks and property easy and quick to centrally heat when needed

Ridgeway, Keswick

We were very happy with the accommodation. It's location from the centre of Keswick was perfect for my dad, who is 93, and can't walk too far. At the top end of the road and only a few mins walk, there is access to Fitz park over the Greta river which is very pretty. The accommodation is quirky in its layout but comfortable, with great views of the hills from the living/dining room and very quiet at night. The kitchen is fabulous and very well stocked with all the utensils etc. you need. I definitely recommend this property.

Great spot for getting to know Keswick

We had a lovely short break at The Ridgeway, helped by some beautiful weather. We found it an ideally positioned base for our stay, with shops, pubs, lake, buses all within an easy few minutes stroll, and more serious walks possible straight from the front door. We didn't use our car once during our 4 day stay! The property was great too. Very well equipped and comfortable once we got used to the interesting room layout and the slightly unexpected stairs, and a fabulous view from the sitting room bay window. If we had to find something to improve it would be the mattress on the main bed, but it wasn't a problem. Keswick Cottages were very straightforward to deal with, and in our limited contacts with them we found them helpful and friendly. We would happily book again, and indeed hope to do so soon!
