If you go down to the woods today, you’ll find a brand new, beautifully finished shepherd’s hut nestled into the greenery. Goosewing Hut is a warm, cosy retreat for two, immersed into the Norfolk woodland and its wildlife. Shepherd’s huts have existed on this land for centuries, accommodating the train builders of Melton Constable. Many train carriages can still be found in Goosewing’s neighbouring gardens, illustrating the local pride in its historical association with the railways. This magical handcrafted hut is surrounded by the best of East Anglia’s living things - from rich, green woodland to an array of animals, ranging from bats to badgers, and from falcons to foxes. The only noisy neighbours you’ll get here is the morning chorus. This is a natural nirvana, allowing you to eat, sleep, breathe and be mindful amongst the tranquil trees.
Woodbine is a great little glamping holiday for couples and young families, the nearest beach is only 6 miles away, the pretty market town of Holt with cafes and local shops, pubs and convenience stores.
If you can drag yourself away from birdwatching by the barbeque, then the nearest amenities are mere minutes away. Take a trip to nearby Wells-next-the-Sea, well known for its two hundred colourful beach huts and its seaside railway. Or why not visit the 15th-century fortified ruin of Baconsthorpe castle, a prominent manor house during the War of the Roses.
