About this property
Peartree Cottage, Euridge - Sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Nestled within the Euridge Estate, Peartree Cottage sits on a tiny lane with just two other cottages for company. This is a pretty and rural spot with far-reaching views across the valley and cows and sheep dotted in the fields below.
Built-in 1877 this charming stone cottage is filled with character and original features including huge sash windows and high ceilings. On the ground floor you'll find a pretty country-style living/dining room with huge windows, a calming colour scheme which is pleasing to the eye and a cosy fireplace with a wood-burning stove for chilly nights and rainy afternoons. There's also a compact but well-equipped kitchen, the bathroom which features a bath and a separate shower and a handy cloakroom with an extra toilet. Head up the stairs and there are three comfortable bedrooms with views over the front and rear of the cottage.
The large, gently sloping garden is shared with any guests who may be staying in the adjacent Bluebell Cottage, but there is plenty of space for all including a garden table and chairs and a charcoal barbecue. Younger guests will love the space to run around in the country air, older visitors can sit and soak up the view, and it's a wonderful spot for wildlife with deer and hares often seen along with hawks and red kites. Euridge Estate also provides bicycles for guests to borrow, these are shared between all the cottages, and you will need to bring your own helmet.
*Dogs: 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.
Ground Floor
The front door opens into a large entrance hall which leads to the living/dining room, the bathroom and the ground floor cloakroom. There are coat hooks and a useful shelf for storing outdoor coats. There is also a cupboard which houses the washing machine and boiler.
Living/Dining Room:
This spacious room spans the width of the cottage and is a cosy and welcoming space. Two large, arched sash windows frame the rural view to the front whilst the comfy chesterfield-style sofa and two armchairs provide plenty of space to relax in front of the wood-burning stove. A smart TV is mounted on the wall above the fireplace while shelves on either side of the chimney breast hold books and DVDs. The dining area features a wooden dining table which seats six comfortably, a chandelier overhead adds a touch of style. A beautiful original feature of the cottage has been retained in the old fireplace and bread oven on the far wall of the dining area.
Kitchen:
The kitchen leads directly from the dining area and is a compact, country-style kitchen with quarry tile flooring, oak cupboards and all the equipment needed for a self-catering stay, including a dishwasher, microwave, and a Nespresso coffee machine.
Bathroom:
This spacious family bathroom features a large walk-in shower and a separate bath with a mixer tap and handheld shower. There's also a toilet and a hand basin with a mirror and shaver point above it.
First Floor
Bedroom One:
With a French-style upholstered double bed facing the sash windows, this is a room where you can lie in bed and watch the countryside beyond come to life. To one side is a bedside table with a ceramic-based reading lamp and a built-in cupboard that gives plenty of storage for unpacking. The high ceilings, delicate chandelier and ornate wall mirror bring a touch of elegance to this country cottage bedroom.
Bedroom Two:
Offering the same countryside views as bedroom one, this double room features an original fireplace (not in use), a trio of Victorian wall panels, a double wardrobe, a chest of drawers and an ornate full-length wall mirror.
Bedroom Three:
The third bedroom is a cosy double room with views over the rear of the cottage. The room is furnished with a comfy double bed, an original fireplace (not in use) a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Outside
Follow the path back to the front of the cottage and you'll find the large lawned garden, which is shared with Bluebell Cottage next door. The size however means there is plenty of room for all to enjoy. It's a great space for garden games, to cook up a feast on the charcoal barbecue or just relax and listen to the sounds of nature. To the rear of the cottage, there is a further shared lawn area with a washing line. There is parking for two vehicles in a parking area, which is around 50 yards from the cottage.
