Christmas Disappointment

Our stay lasted only a few hours as the property was difficult to find and was in a bad sate as soon as we entered. It is set back from the road with a disused greenhouse and an allotment type property to the front of it. So, you cannot see it as the pictures show because of the large 'glass' greenhouse obscuring it. Then, there is no lighting so getting to the property via some steps which are not even and a walkway that is not flat, became another hazard, especially if like me you have even the slightest mobility issues. On entering the property it was freezing cold and this was 22nd December. There was no information available on how to turn the heating on as we tried just turning the thermostat up and that didn't work. So, while my husband was working on finding the solution to the central heating I decided to light the fire to try get some warmth only to find the remnants of the previous visitors fire still in the fireplace so we were still going to try and push through staying there when I noticed snails on the living room floor, with their trails leading to under the sofa.We rang the property owner initially when we couldn't find the property and he was helpful but then when we called about the heating etc he said couldn't do anything and would get hold of the cleaner. He called back to say she was away and could come in a few days. It was too cold to stay there so we called VRBO and sent pictures, had to find a hotel and they kindly refunded us.
