This UK getaway is great whatever the weather, with plenty of sites to explore and a luxurious stay to come back to, including attractions such as Penistone Town, Holmfirth Vineyard and various local pubs.

The Neighborhood:
Birdsedge is a 10 minute car ride away, a town famous for the Last of the Summer Wine series and home to the beautiful Holmfirth Vineyard . Various nearby attractions including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Peak District National Park and the National Coal Mining Museum. Holmfirth also hosts numerous festivals throughout the year.

There are plenty places to explore including the stunning landscapes of the nearby Peak District, this luxury staycation is ideal for walkers/cyclists and romantic getaways.

Also close by are surrounding cities Huddersfield, Sheffield, Leeds & Manchester.

Getting Around:
Birdsedge has regular bus routes to surrounding areas such as Holmfirth, Huddersfield and Wakefield.

Ideally the main transport would be by car.

The house was one of the most well equipped that we have stayed in. Lots of books and games, huge television, really comfortable beds, and lots of cutlery etc. Quiet location and lovely neighbours - one of which helped us change our wheel after a flat tyre .

I am always dubious about making a booking when there are no reviews. However I cross referenced and found glowing reviews on another site. They didn’t exaggerate , Ben’s cottage is wonderful. Spotlessly clean, all up to date equipment and appliances that you could wish for and the majority top of the range. Massive Sony TV with Bose speakers for instance. All rooms were larger than expected and very well furnished. Wonderful, well planned, if bijou, outdoor area with excellent views. Front of the cottage is lovely and quaint, giving no idea of what lies within. We did several walks, some from ‘ walks round Holmfirth ‘ booklet and one from cottage itself through a beautiful wood. Visited Holme Moss, Snake Pass and Holmfirth. Would definitely return if in the area
