We just had a one night stay to wait for a connecting flight out of Athens. It was very easy to get to and because we got there before check in the host gave us directions on where we could store our luggage for a couple of hours so we could get out explore a little and get some lunch. The room was very comfortable but the best part was it was easy to walk around and find a nice place for dinner and drinks while we rested up for the long flight the next morning.
Everything was clean and nice. It was a close walk to everything we needed. Check in was super easy with great instructions (photos included, which was very helpful for being unfamiliar) Thank you so much!
This property was beautiful, and in a great location, central to our stay in Athens. We had a mishap regarding the description of the property, but the owner was great to deal with and provided a viable solution.
I had a fantastic stay at Chess Garden for 26 nights while in Athens. The owner gave me excellent restaurant recommendations nearby. The space was beautiful and had a built in desk which was perfect for my work. It was in a local neighbor rather than the center of Athens which was nice. However it was still a short walk to anywhere I needed or wanted to go. I highly recommend!
Nice little studio in a courtyard. It's removed from the hub of tourist activity down in the plaka/acropolis area, but just a couple blocks up behind the national archeology museum. About a 5-8 euro Uber ride to the acropolis etc. Exarhia neighborhood is the student district.
This place was perfect for me. A lovely courtyard and a clean, comfortable room. With coffee, even! I needed a little extra help with a place to keep my bags and Giorgios really saved my day. Thank you!
Exceptional service and the apartment was the perfect size for our weeklong stay in Athens, with access to the outer courtyard. The neighborhood Exarcheia was great to explore with countless options to eat and listen to live music. And best of all was the host - when I had any questions, they were answered right away and check in was seamless! The laundry (and cool dryer) was also a luxury you’ll be hard pressed to find in Greece!
The area has a real edge to it, which I loved. Lots of colour and life. Close to some other interesting areas. My host was excellent. All most immediate response to any communication with him. Very warm and relaxed.
The property was nicely maintained however the neighborhood was a bit depressed. The losing had no address and was difficult to find until the address was sent after we arrived.
This was a really good spot to stay for our trip to Athens. The space itself was a really great size (especially after coming from tiny hotel rooms in Paris). We loved having access to a washer/dryer unit.
George was also a great host! Very welcoming and helpful. He also gave us a really great recommendation for dinner that was only a few minute walk away. Some of our favorite food we had in Greece!
Only “downfall” is that it’s a decent walk to Plaka and the acropolis (if that’s all you’re in Athens for), but the walk there really wasn’t too bad so we didn’t mind it! But the area around it was great to explore. There were a lot of restaurants and coffee shops within a short walking distance.

A graffiti message summed it up. Welcome to the tourist cemetery of Europe. I’ve never stayed in a more poorly equipped place. There were two towels that felt like sandpaper and the size not much bigger than a hand towel. Other than mold in the coffee maker, the place was clean. There were no dish towels, paper towels of any kind in the kitchen. I was unfamiliar with the Card insert for power. So we were in the dark for a while literally. Communication with the host was satisfactory. He replied in a timely fashion. Parking is a nightmare if you can find it. you have to pull in your side mirrors lest they be knocked off by a passing vehicle. I am not kidding. it was not that easy to find because the location is on the street that doesn’t allow vehicular traffic. You can pull up vehicle up to the door and unload, but you have to move the vehicle afterwards and look for the nightmare Parking. The access codes were inaccurate. They were off by a number. We figured it out. We got sent the right message. It was a quiet location. The condition of the furniture these much to be desired the furniture is abused. I’m referring to the sofa in the sitting area. The bed was OK. Oh, the decorative wood on the bedroom walls make it impossible to plug in your Europe electrical adapter. thank goodness for air-conditioning it worked.

We are sorry for your unpleasant experience. However, the house is located on a quiet pedestrian street in the center of Athens, which can make parking a bit difficult — for this reason, we suggest using a private parking facility nearby.
As for the towels, we always provide four of each kind — both large and small.
Regarding the coffee, we checked carefully and did not find any mold. If you noticed something concerning, we would appreciate it if you could share a photo with us.
Finally, the graffiti you mentioned is part of the local street art culture and characteristic of the neighborhood.
Agréable pied à terre, dans un quartier jeune et animé. Très bonne communication avec Giorgos
Trois jours passés à Athènes après avoir visité le Péloponnèse. La ville d’Athenes a été une transition douce avant de retrouver Paris
