About this property
Heavenly Sedona Oak Creek Home - On the Water!
The Orchard House on Sedona Oak Creek- See and hear the pleasant calming sounds of Oak Creek & wind in the trees from an Eden-like private canyon back yard with ivy & wild roses grown along the back fence. This place is so peaceful. Canyon walls surround you, as Oak Creek runs year round. Retreat to this charming 4 bedroom, 2 bath canyon cabin with a deck overlooking the creek. It also has a separate room over the garage that can be used as a 5th bedroom but has to be accessed from the outside. This house is referred to as The Orchard House, due to the several varieties of apple, pears, peach and cherry trees, with grape vines along southern fence line. Also, let's not forget the two almond trees in the front....everything grows here!
A wood-burning brick fireplace in great-room, a vintage replica stove in kitchen make for a great cabin-like setting. There is ample room inside & out for friends & family. A covered porch on both front & back patios compete for absolutely amazing views of mountains, creek, birds and stars! You will find that you will spend a lot of time in the backyard - with the deck/seating area overlooking the creek (our favorite place), a rope swing, a porch swing, mature trees, 2 large bird feeders, fire pit, a gas cooking grill and a charcoal grill for convenience, Sonos speakers and lights strung throughout. This backyard truly has a magical touch of nature that any age will truly enjoy. Although the yard does not have direct access to the creek, it is only about a 3 minute walk to it.
If you are here to rest, relax and enjoy the beauty of Sedona, then this is the place to be. You will find this house to be detailed with all of the necessary things to make your stay enjoyable. Lots of thought and attention to detail make this property desirable... 5 very comfortable beds, plenty of cooking utensils, 3 different ways to make coffee, including a Keurig, comfy seating, fresh linens for beds and bathrooms. If you are headed to the creek, we have rafts, towels, coolers, and balls to make your trip fun. This house has everything. A perched game room/bunkhouse with a separate entrance is a fun place for kids or adults to hang out.
The agenda; stroll to the creek, enjoy the ebb & flow of life's simple pleasures, take on a hike in many of Oak Creek Canyon's forest trails or visit Slide Rock that is one mile up the road. The location is unique as you are a short drive (5 miles) back into uptown Sedona where the dining, shopping or spa-ing opportunities are endless. Try the famous pink jeep tour for a fun and educational experience! You can also head up the 30 minute scenic route to Flagstaff on the newly renovated highway where there are ample opportunities for hiking, biking, shopping, dining or snow skiing to name a few. If you love wine, there are ample opportunities to try the Arizona wines. We recommend driving to Page Springs and Cottonwood...beautiful short drive and tasty wines!
Other things to note.....Also, because we are a mountain property and located next to the creek, please be aware that the creek has the potential to overflow the bridge leading into our neighborhood, although it is rare. This usually occurs around March 1 and is because of melting snow up north in Flagstaff. This can cause traffic to be unable to cross into or out of the neighborhood for hours or days. Always look ahead at the weather and plan accordingly, by having plenty of food. Typically these events happen with lots of rain on top of existing snow in the high country. It is advisable to have an AWD or 4WD vehicle in the winter months, as snow is always a potential. Do not cross the bridge if signs are stating Do Not Cross and do not cross if there is snow on the bridge. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding that. Thank you!

About the host

We met in Phoenix many years ago, while my husband was going to school at Grand Canyon University. We currently live in Chandler, AZ, but I have always lived in Phoenix and my husband is from Oklahoma originally. We love Arizona, but the heat can be tough, thus the purchase of the Sedona home where we can cool off and get away!
Why they chose this property
This property was a find of a lifetime for us, as we were vacationing in Oak Creek Canyon on our anniversary. Although we live in Chandler, AZ, we had not been to the area in quite some time and were blown away by the beauty and uniqueness of the area. It was everything we were looking for: running creek water that can be heard and seen, tall mountains that can be seen from all views, several variety of
trees, cool temperatures, and absolute tranquility. We weren't in the market for a second home, but couldn't resist this one when it was shown to us while on our vacation! The things we love about it the most is the peacefulness and absolute beauty that surrounds this property. The canyon mountains are all around us, with Oak Creek literally behind us, which can be seen and heard very well from our deck. The birds are always singing and flying through the trees, and the history of the 100 year old orchard trees. As for the home it is very simple and easy to relax in. It is an older home that we were excited to completely update and remodel. With the construction out of the way, we are ready to enjoy this home and property for a long time!

What makes this property unique
We just couldn't resist the way that this property made us feel. It is so different from where we live in Arizona. The beauty of the land and surroundings make you feel that there is nothing to worry about it. Because there is so much to see and look at, your worries are taken away. There is nothing better than sitting in the back yard on the deck staring at the rushing creek as it moves past you with the soothing sound of water and looking up at the beauty of the mountains and trees. As my dad says, "Nothing else matters when you are here. The overwhelming sense of peace takes all of your cares away".
