Dolphin Cottage- traditional cottage on Fife Coast
Dolphin Cottage is an 18th century traditional property nestled beside the historic Dreel Halls and its grounds on The Esplanade, one of the most iconic locations in Anstruther. With the stepping stones leading across the Dreel Burn to the shore just beyond the property it offers central yet quiet accommodation.
The bedrooms, a double and a twin, are on the ground floor along with the shower room which features a bespoke stained glass window depicting local images. Stairs lead to the bright first floor where there is a cosy lounge with sea views, a spacious dining area and a well equipped kitchen. Each of the East facing windows frame views across the Dreel burn as it flows to the sea and towards the harbourfront. Relax at the window seat to read a book or simply watch the waves roll in. The Dreel Halls to the rear has an historic graveyard and quiet gardens where guests can enjoy views from the many benches along the waters edge. There is on street parking at the end of the lane and access to a sheltered beach just behind the harbour wall. Dolphin Cottage welcomes well behaved dogs, and the area is known for being particularly dog friendly with plenty coastal and countryside walks in close reach. Well suited to families or friends travelling together, the cottage is a comfortable and welcoming base for a stay in the beautiful East Neuk.

Lovely quiet property. It does smell musty, but is easy to heat. We bought scented candles. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen.

Lovely quaint old cottage close to the beach and harbour. It’s in a great location with lovely views over the Dreel burn and beach. The open plan living/dining room is bright, spacious and comfortable. The cottage is well provisioned with plenty crockery and kitchenware, plus a dishwasher and washing machine. It has a quirky layout with bedrooms on the ground floor and the living spaces upstairs. This affords the property with nice views towards the beach. The beds were pretty comfortable, although a few new pillows would definitely be a bonus. Plenty drawer and wardrobe space in both bedrooms. We had plenty towels, bedding etc and the heating and shower were good so we were cosy during our stay. The only negative point is that the cottage would benefit from a deep clean. It was generally clean on all the surfaces and in the kitchen and bathroom so we had no issues with it but I am guessing that the owner or some guests might have dogs. We were aware of a slight doggy aroma coming from the carpets and soft furnishings. It was a minor thing though and didn’t bother us. The parking was a bit challenging during our stay because the carpark at the esplanade was fenced off by Scottish Water for upgrade works. The cottage is on a narrow street so we had to park away from the property. It wasn’t a problem as we didn’t need the car much so we unloaded our bags on arrival and parked in a public carpark about 5mins walk away. Overall, we had a great stay and would book again
