Within reasonable driving distance are Britain's top theme park, Alton Towers, as well as the rocky Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. The spectacular caverns in neighbouring Castleton and Little John's burial site in Hathersage are both well worth a visit, as are the other stately homes to be visited, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall to name a few. Visit the spectacular Edwardian Opera House in Buxton, which was created by Frank Matcham, who also created the London Palladium.
