About this property
The Coach House - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Quietly located in the village of Cold Aston, just a stone's throw from Bourton-on-the-Water, the Coach House offers space and tranquillity in a lovely setting. The countryside lanes that weave through the Cotswolds bringing you to the village, set the scene for your stay perfectly.
Throughout the coach house, original features take centre stage revealing exposed stone walls, aged timbers, and old beams. There's detail in the little touches too, with brace and latch doors, antique light switches and a wooden settle. Enjoy lazy breakfasts and relaxed suppers at the six-seater dining table, then retire to the comfy sofas set around the welcoming glow of the wood-burning stove. During the summer months, you can throw open the doors to the courtyard and soak up the late afternoon sunshine. The two bedrooms are equally enchanting with beamed, vaulted ceilings, village views and lots of space to relax. The free-standing bathtub in bedroom one just invites you to fill it with bubbles, lay back and let the worries of the world simply drift away.
The Coach House enjoys a courtyard area with parking for two cars. The cobbles to the front of the property are the perfect spot for the dining table and chairs, where you can relax in the fresh air. There are footpaths from the door and the village pub is just a short walk away.
Ground Floor
Kitchen:
The old entrance door leads into a well-equipped kitchen, the simple design fits perfectly with the style that you will find throughout the Coach House. There is a full oven, hob, and dishwasher and behind the red-framed doors to the pantry there is a fridge (no freezer), and washing machine along with all your crockery and glasses. There is also a ground-floor cloakroom tucked away in here too. The impressive settle is actually made from old oak coffin wood, and a good place to sit to remove outdoor gear.
Living Room/Dining Area:
Take a moment to appreciate the detail on the old door, with its wooden acorn weight, as you walk through to the main living space. There's an eight-seater refectory dining table with chairs and a Georgian settle along one side, and two plump sofas are placed at right angles around the stone fireplace which is now home to a wood-burning stove. Behind the timber doors on the left of the chimney breast, you'll find the Smart TV. Double doors lead into the courtyard.
First Floor
Bedroom One:
This fabulous bedroom is filled with character boasting exposed stone walls, timber floors and old beams. Soak the cares of the day away in the free-standing bathtub before drifting off to sleep in the comfortable super-king bed. This is a romantic and peaceful space with charm by the bucket load. There is plenty of storage so you can unpack, a thoughtfully placed desk and chair, and a cosy armchair, where you can relax with a coffee as the day begins.
Shower Room:
Between the two bedrooms is the bathroom with a shower cubicle with a rainfall showerhead, handbasin and WC.
Bedroom Two:
This equally delightful bedroom is up two steps from the main staircase and can be arranged as a twin, or king. Deep-set windows to the side and front, wooden beams and original floorboards add warmth and charm whilst the neutral colour scheme enhances the beautiful sense of calm. There is an antique chest of drawers and hooks with wooden hangers for unpacking.
Outside
The high gates lead into the courtyard which is only for the use of the Coach House guests. There is parking for two cars and a cobbled patio with a wooden table and chairs and a parasol. A wooden bench placed along one stone wall catches the late afternoon sunshine.
