Very good

Roomier than we expected (two adult couples) and the location was great -- near the train station, a walk on the city wall, and the center of town. Coffee shops and the like on Micklegate steps away. A happy surprise was that the beds were essentially American queen size. We'd stay there again.

Brilliant base for exploring York
We’d a lovely 3 night stay at Dewsbury Court. The property was lovely, comfortable and cosy and location was excellent. Service from Stays York was also excellent. Having a parking space was a bonus. House was very clean and well equipped. There was no washing machine which is the only thing I’d say could improve it. Loved it, thanks!

Very comfortable house, ideal location
The location is perfect for a family trip to York. Being within easy walking distance of the station and all major central historical attractions, yet in a quiet residential area, was ideal. The kitchen was well-equipped for a short-term rental and the bedrooms very comfy. The view of the city walls from the lounge was lovely. Only small suggestions I would make are 1. provide a cafetiere or electric coffee maker; 2. provide a broom and dustpan and/or fix the hoover, which did not work well.

Short break with grandchildren
Dewsbury Court served our purposes very well. We stayed with grandchildren aged nearly four and nine. It’s a ten minute walk from the train station and right next to the city walls which meant an exciting walk into town! There’s a small children’s playground within three minutes walk (visible from lounge window) which was very handy.
Nice Propery but Poorly Maintained and Poor Service
Where do I start? As I was arriving from an international trip and would arrive 1 hr. before the 4 pm check-in, I requested a 3pm arrival. I was informed that this couldn’t be arranged in advance. First impression of the place was that it had a look of neglect with weeds growing around the entrance and the patio area was covered in tree twigs and the tables were mouldy. The interior had a damp smell and the fridge emanated a very bad smell.
Neither of the TV’s were working for the majority of our stay and the instructions in the property manual were totally wrong and did not match the equipment.
The front windows of the living room were inoperable as the mechanisms were broken as confirmed by contractors who eventually came to inspect them
The laundry facilities were only accessible by climbing around a car, a bike and packing boxes. The dryer was full of lint and contained a pair of ladies knickers.
The dishwasher appeared to work but did not clean the dishes, so all were done by hand. Lamps in the living room had expired batteries.
This was to be a very special time for my brother and I (both living in Canada) because we had not spent any time together since childhood and we’re now elderly, all of these issues and lack of responsiveness from Stays York, the managers, cast a shadow over our special time.
