About this property

Spacious Farm House in the Hills Above Ceret

This spacious house, set in magnificent surroundings, offers a group of friends or family the perfect, secluded getaway in Languedoc Roussillon, just 5km to the north-east of the historic Catalan town of Céret. Set at the foot of the Hermitage St Ferreol, in the foothills of the Pyrénées, the house sits high above Céret and enjoys sweeping views down the valley and up over the mountain tops. The location is simply stunning.

The house is perfect for groups of between 10 and 15 people. Five bedrooms on the first floor sleep 10 people (3 doubles and 2 twins). There is a further double bedroom on the ground floor and a triple on the third floor. There are four full shower rooms with WC and sink: three on the first floor, one on the ground floor. Some of the bedrooms open directly onto terraces and have wonderful views.

The Kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, with everything you’d expect…and a bit more! In addition to the 5-burner stove, oven and microwave, there are two dishwashers and a washing machine and dryer in the adjoining utility room. There is a large dining table in the kitchen, and another in the Living Room. Outside, there is seating for the whole crowd on the patio, whose commanding, south-facing views will hold you spellbound.

The enormous Living Room has space enough for everyone, and has a large flat panel TV, sofas and armchairs aplenty and still has room left over for a large palm tree which reaches towards the conservatory skylight above it! One wall of the Living Room is taken up by windows which enjoy the same view as the patio outside.

The house is perfect for a group of cyclists or walkers, who will find the local walks some of the most beautiful – if demanding – they’ve ever had the pleasure of exploring.

The 13th century Ermitage St Ferreol, just a few minutes’ walk away, was built in honour of the local patron saint; it now often plays host to musical events and special services so be sure to check what’s on. A short drive down the mountain will take you to the many wonderful bars and restaurants of Céret, not to mention its famous modern art museum. There are many other local delights to enjoy during your stay; we’ll be happy to give you advice on what to do, see and eat while you’re here!

Superb location but some parts of the house in need of redecoration

Excellent location with stunning views. Only 12 minutes into Ceret centre by car or pleasant 40 minute walk mainly on footpaths. Pics on HomeAway did not really reflect the need for redecoration in some bedrooms and bathrooms, and externally both the house and garden need some much needed tlc. However, if a bit of shabby chic Frenchness doesn't worry you this is a fantastic place for a group holiday.

Familyholidays , grandparents with their children and grandchildren

We really enjoyed the stay. We were 13 persons, children and adults. It is a quiet place to spend holidays together. The house is big. There is an ok kitchen with lots of cutlery. The pool is nice, the children loved to swim and play in it. The price is ok. It was easy to get in contact with Jay for questions. The path to the village is lovley, takes about half an hour to walk. It is nessesary to have cars when you spend holidays at the place. We will be back some time !

Perfect house for a large group

We had an amazing week at Domaine St Ferreol. We were 3 families with a total of 5 teenagers and there was enough space for everyone to be together paying games or eating meals, or find quiet spots to read. The pool provided hours of entertainment, and it was hard to leave at the end of our perfect holiday. We took day trips to the town of Ceret, the beach and even made it to Costa Brava in Spain. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for a big group. We had great fun cooking in the big kitchen and eating either outside enjoying the views or indoors at the big family table. We definitely recommend staying here and would come back in a heartbeat!

Excellent vacation for the whole family

We were three families with children at the age of 3, 6, 11 and 13 spending a week at Domain St. Ferrol. The possibility of reaching beaches, shopping and historical sights within 30 minutes combined with a house with no neigbours make this location superb. All the kids preferred staying at the pool rather than the beach. The huge kitchen with dual dishwashers and refigirators made home cooking easy. A perfect vacation for all of us!!
