Town: The ancient market town of Langport lies at the heart of the Somerset levels, at the crossing point of the River Parrett, mid-way between the county town of Taunton and Yeovil. Its central location makes it a thriving hub for local villages and an ideal base to explore the surrounding area, as well as the Somerset Levels, one of England’s most unchanged Landscapes. The ancient beauty and diverse wildlife of the area makes it one of the landscapes that have inspired many artists and photographers as well as drawing visitors from all over the world. The surrounding countryside teeming with pretty villages and quiet country lanes with footpaths and cycle trails to explore the picturesque Somerset Levels. If a day at the beach is what you're after, the seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea is easily reachable and offers a range of amenities as well as its wonderful sandy beach. Avid walkers can make the most of the nearby Mendip Hills AONB and features magnificent walking and cycling country. Travelling slightly further afield; to the south you'll find many places of interest; the beautiful fishing port of West Bay, the Jurassic Coast with Lyme Regis and the artisan town of Bridport with its markets and music venues or the historic cities of Bath and Wells.
