Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: One of the oldest market towns in Cornwall, the pretty port of Penryn boasts a wealth of historic architecture and harbour heritage with attractive granite buildings steeply sloping along the cobbled streets down to the sea. There’s a good choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs in the town, along with a museum offering free entry, and the tranquil Enys Gardens on the outskirts of the town, providing a range of grounds and a peaceful haven. Further along the Penryn River, just one mile towards the sea you’ll find the famous seaport of Falmouth, with a host of things to keep you entertained including harbour-side pubs and eateries offering spectacular views, stunning Blue Flag beaches and a bustling town centre. Visit the National Maritime Museum for a taste of Cornwall’s sea-faring history, or the fine Tudor fortress of Pendennis Castle, superb set gazing out to sea. Nice flat, very cosy and comfortable. Hard to contact property owner through Vrbo as it’s managed by Syke’s Cottages. The address in the listing shows it in Penryn itself which caused a bit of a confusion on the way.
This place was everything we needed. It’s clean, tidy, well appointed. Well positioned for us (we have family in Falmouth). The beach a 10 minute drive away. The check in process was easy and Mark and Caroline were lovely hosts. You definitely need a car if you are staying here but there is a parking space in a safe courtyard.
The only thing that could be better is that there is a tassimo coffee machine but only 3 coffee pods supplied. For a longer stay you will need to buy more pods which come in packs of 12, which is fine but then you are potentially left with a load of pods for a coffee machine you don’t have at home!
