Barn Conversion, Stithians, Cornwall

The Dairy is a charming grade 2 listed barn conversion adjoining the farmhouse and was recently converted (by the current owners) from two barns, which were previously a milking parlour and piggery. It has a bright lounge/diner with a vaulted ceiling, cosy wood burner and French doors opening out onto the courtyard and garden; two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a modern fully equipped kitchen. It is contemporary in style and has been decorated with local artwork. The Dairy has its own drive with parking for two cars and we welcome well behaved dogs.
Set in a tranquil location, The Dairy overlooks the courtyard and garden with patio table and chairs and a barbecue. The garden is terraced over three lawned levels and great for garden games. It has a tree swing and a sunken trampoline. The Dairy was once part of the Tretheague Estate with it’s Grade II* listed Georgian Manor house built in 1744 by architect Thomas Edwards. All the old farm buildings are now restored and complete this lovely little hamlet: Tretheague Barton, The Farmhouse, The Cottage, The Dairy, The Piggery, The Granary and The Smithy. The Dairy lies on the edge of Stithians village and is perfectly situated for exploring both the North and South coasts of Cornwall. Truro, Helford Passage, Helston, Redruth and Camborne Mining Heritage, Newquay, St Ives, Padstow, the Lizard, Lands End, Penzance, Mousehole are all within touching distance.

Idyllic and cozy holiday home

The converted barn has a lot of charm and is located nearby a small village that is well suited for trips to the south and central Cornwall. Jane is truly a friendly, attentive and generous host.

The Dairy at Stithians

A wonderful place to stay to explore and take in the wonders of Cornwall. Hosts Jane and Gwyn were very welcoming and their beautiful dog Nala made a great companion for walks through the adjoining fields.The house is charming and very well presented, living up to our expectations, then some. The property is highly recommended for four people wishing to be located in the heart of the best parts of Cornwall.

Outstanding Cornish barn conversion

We have stayed in many cottages/barn conversions in Cornwall but this has to be the BEST! We took my Mum and Dad who never know where they're staying, its always a surprise this place almost reduced my Mum to tears.It has been converted to a very high standard, everything has been thought off to make your stay perfect, the grocery hamper was excellent, fresh flowers in every room. The owners Jane and Gwyn are friendly and always happy to help if needed. If in the area again we would have absolutely no hesitation in booking again.

We have rented about 15 self catering properties over the years and this is the most well equipped one yet! Loved the welcome package with scones, Cornish cream, milk, eggs and much more. Spotlessly clean! The lounge was spacious with comfortable seating and a great wood burner, TV with all the channels and a selection of books and travel information/maps. It was bright and cheerful with French doors and skylights. Spacious kitchen with new appliances and a good selection of dishes and cookware. Lovely garden with outdoor seating. There are two full bathroom and 2 bedrooms, one on each side of the cottage, so great for family or two couples. Jane was a pleasure to work with, responding to questions right away during the booking process. Our deposit was returned before we made it back home! Highly recommended!

Einfach toll. Ruhig gelegen, super Ausgangspunkt um Südcornwall zu erkunden. Das "Dairy" ist echt groß und wie wir finden, sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Gute Betten und Dusche, toller Garten und Ausblick von der Terrasse.

Dairy Cottage

Such a great and peaceful place to stay in Cornwall! The cottage had everything we needed. My family and dogs enjoyed it; we felt right at home. Most of all, the host was so lovely and kind, the welcome pack was so beautiful. We would love to stay at Dairy cottage again and will recommend it to family and friends.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, mit viel Liebe zum Detail

Eine Unterkunft in der wir uns von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Wir wurden begrüßt mit selbstgemachten Scones. Der Kühlschrank war mit dem Notwenigsten befüllt, Brot und Wein gab's ebenfalls. Die Küche ist top ausgestattet. Auch grundlegende Dinge wie Salz, Öl, Küchenrollen, Alufolie, Frischhaltefolie usw. sind vorhanden. Die sehr netten Vermieter wohnen auch auf dem Grundstück. Das stört aber überhaupt nicht. Sie haben sehr viel Liebe zum Detail bei der Einrichtung und bei vielen kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, wenn es uns noch einmal nach Cornwall verschlägt!

Urlaub in Cornwall

Das Cottage bei Jane und Gwyn ist ein/e sehr stilvoll umgebauter Scheune/Stall, bei dem man stellenweise das alte Mauerwerk sichtbar gelassen hat. Wir wurden dort sehr freundlich begrüßt. Die Wohnung ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man in den Ferien braucht. Zusätzlich gab es zur Begrüßung Scones mit clotted cream und der Kühlschrank war mit Orangensaft, Butter, Eiern und Milch gefüllt. Weiter gab es eine Flasche Wein, Brot und leckere Kekse. Das Cottage liegt sehr ruhig und der nächste Ort Stithians mit Einkaufsladen und Pub ist auch mit dem Fahrrad in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen.

Comfort and birdsong.

A delightful, cosy barn conversion next to the owner’s beautiful granite farmhouse was our shelter for the week. Beautiful Cosy Dairy

We needed a last minute stay and what a find 😃 stunning old dairy barn stocked with everything you could possibly need. So comfortable, we felt at home as soon as we walked in. We highly recommend.

Property was very nice,although we has a smell of damp in the cupboards. The outside photo's did not show the sleeper steps to get to each level of garden, the first was about 8 sleepers on edge then a 3 steps and again another 3 steps. Big field to walk dog was not low grass,when l threw the ball for our lab it dissapeared into the grass never to be seen again,l suggest getting the local sheep or goats to eat it back. The front had parking for one car there.

Delightful Cottage in a beautiful location

Auf dem Land und doch sehr zentral

Das Ferienhaus und die Lage sind sehr schön. Wir haben besonders das große Wohnzimmer und den schönen Garten genossen. Jane und Gwyne sind tolle Gastgeber. Mit ihren Tipps haben wir super Strände entdeckt die auch für unseren Hund geeignet waren. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Schöner Urlaub in Cornwall

Wir haben uns sehr wohl in der Dairy gefühlt. Unser Gastgeber waren super nett und haben uns bei Fragen stets geholfen. Cornwall ist einfach eine sehr schöne Urlaubsregion, wenn das Wetter stimmt. Wir hatten das Glück. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr ländlich aber trotzdem sehr Zentral um schöne Ausflüge zu unternehmen.

Wunderschön!

England steht immer mal wieder auf unserer Urlaubsliste. Cornwall hat es für uns perfekt gemacht. Unsere Unterkunft, eine hübsche umgebaute Molkerei "the Diary" war einfach nur schön, komfortabel, und ruhig gelegen. Jane und Gwyn sind sehr herzliche und sympathische Gastgeber. Von dem Ort aus kann man sehr viele Ausflugsorte erreichen. Wir können es nur empfehlen.

Jane And Gwyn would love to welcome you to the Dairy. We have been living in Cornwall since 2002 and absolutely love the life we have. We have two children Bethany and Benjamin 19 and 17 respectively. We moved to Stithians in 2007 and converted the barn initially as ancillary accommodation for relatives and now have recently updated it for holiday letting. We are happy to help in anyway we can to make your holiday as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.

Why they chose this property

The Dairy sits in a nice little hamlet of five or six renovated barns but still close to the village . Stithians is a great location as it is equidistant from the bustling harbour town of Falmouth with its quaint cobbled streets and plethora of bars and restaurants and the city of Truro with its cathedral, shops, and further choice of restaurants. Also being in the middle of the county its great for the choice of north or south coasts , just get up, look at the sky and choose the best coast for the weather
