What a beautiful place! Easy 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We loved being able to come back and just relax without all the hustle and bustle! Ellsworth is close by and has a great selection for places to eat. There is also a Walmart if you want to make your own food. Communication with the host was excellent and we felt like we had everything we needed at the house.

This place was incredible. We stayed the last week in August. I was skeptical with the location being not on Mt Desert Island, but it ended up being perfect and centrally located to everything we did. Schoodic Point, Acadia, towns of Bucksport/Belfast/Camden/Rockport and some other local hikes. The owner has a great book with local recommendations! The house was the perfect place to wind down after day of hiking and do some fishing and kayaking and paddleboarding as the wind died down on the lake in the late afternoon and water was warm. We finished a few evenings with a fire in the huge Solo stove and did some stargazing where you could see the Milky Way with no moon the week we stayed. This place was the perfect place to stay and relax. The lake is clear and peaceful. When we come back to Maine we will definitely stay here again. 10/10.

Beautiful lake house

Our family of four (two adults and two 7-year-olds) had a blast at this wonderful property. Paul was very communicative and responsive, the lake was beautiful, the sunsets were stunning, and the location (within an hour of Acadia) was excellent. Highly recommend!

The perfect place for our Acadia visit

We had an amazing stay here at the end of October. The views in the morning and at night were breathtaking. It was so easy to communicate with Paul and the check-in was seamless. We arrived later and all the lights were left on for us - which made it easy to find in a secluded place. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed our six day stay here - we did Acadia by day and then just relaxed at night. If we come back to Acadia, this is our top choice!

A lovely lakeside place to return to!

We keep returning to the George’s Pond House since it provides us with the beauty, tranquility, fun stuff and all the things you need away from home. Paul is a great host who keeps the property in good working order and clean. He is very responsive and accommodating.

This property is in a beautiful location. It is right on the water with a dock. There are kayaks and fishing poles available. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you might need.. The rental was spotless. Paul responded to any questions promptly. The property was very easy to find and is in a safe, quiet location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.

DownEast Trip

We were beyond pleased with our stay at George’s Pond. The house was perfect with many amenities, especially in the kitchen with spices, foil, baggies already there. Paul was the best host, the house was lit up and windows open when we arrived and he checked on us during Hurricane Lee to be sure we were good. Luckily we only had one bad weather day. The lake was beautiful and great for kayaking. I would recommend this house if you are coming to Bar Harbor, Acadia, or anywhere in Downeast Maine! Thanks Paul!

Bar harbor trip

Property is as advertised. Everything was beautiful including the lake. Kayaks were fun as was the fishing. Owner had everything you could think of in the house. They also quickly responded to all requests. Area was quiet and relaxing. Would highly recommend it. The only thing to note is there is not a lot of restaurant options close by and the drive to bar harbor was about 45 min. We didn’t mind the drive and preferred to get away but it just means you need to plan ahead for different things. The bar harbor area was beautiful as we went hiking, rock climbing, whale watching and watched the sun rise.

Rain in Maine better than Sun at Work

Despite the week of rain and cold (upper 50's) and unable to access the lake as much as anticipated, this home on the water was far enough away from the tourist areas to feel like home and close enough to the quieter side of Arcadia to enjoy our week w our adult children. Only regret was not visiting more of the quaint, smaller towns along Rt 1 close to our rental. Owner great to work with and even provided a brand new fishing pole for my enjoyment. Sunset was stunning and house just the right size to play cards, snack, and hang out.

Beautiful house, beautiful location - Great Stay!

We stayed at Georges Pond for a little over a week. This was a last-minute rental so we could take advantage of early spring biking weather at Acadia NP. Georges Pond was a great location for our stay. Close to everything, but away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and Ellsworth. The home is very nice - well laid out and comfortable for our group of 4. The location is beautiful - we heard loons calling at night and saw lots of birds (including a bald eagle). So nice to enjoy morning coffee and watch the sun shining on the pond. Truly a terrific stay. And it was great working with the owners. They were informative and responsive. Everything worked great and we loved this location.

What a Wonderful Stay!

This lakeside rental was one of our highlights on an amazing two-week New England road trip. Based on advice from friends, we booked this home because it was outside busy Bar Harbor and that ended up being perfect for us. After busy morning/early afternoons in Acadia National Park we all looked forward to going back to "the lake house" in Franklin and leaving the chaos behind. George's Pond is clear and beautiful. We watched loons and eagles and many fireside sunsets. Fished and swam off the dock (my son caught a huge bass right off the dock) and kayaked (with the supplied kayaks) all over the lake. The home is spacious, super clean and well stocked. We were able to get to Acadia NP within 40 min and larger grocery stores were about 15 min away from the house. Although there were smaller convenience stores just a few minutes from the house. The owner was responsive (although we didn't need him other than a quick "hello, we've arrived" and there were no fussy departure instructions - just the normal stuff you'd expect. It was an amazing stay in an amazing home and if we are ever in this area again we would not hesitate to stay here again!

On George's Pond

Had a great time on George's Pond! Paul was a wonderful host, and everything you could possibly need was provided. He was quick to respond to any questions, and even checked in on us to make sure everything was going well. The house was lovely and views spectacular. After spending long days in Acadia Nat'l Park and/or Bar Harbor it was nice to return to such peaceful surroundings. Thanks again, Paul!

We didn’t want to leave!

Family vacation to Maine, 4 adults. The house was very comfortable with a gorgeous waterfront view. We drove from NJ and had everything we needed, but the house was well stocked with the basics to get anyone started, such as k-cups, trash bags, paper towels/toilet paper, hand and bath soap. Linens and towels provided. I had packed beach towels, but I do believe there were beach towels available as well. Beds were all in new condition and very comfortable. Smart tv on each floor with many apps available to login. Wifi in the house was strong. Multiple kayaks on sight and we enjoyed a morning tour of the lake before heading to the park/Bar Harbor.Primary reason for the visit was to visit Acadia National Park. We wanted a waterfront location away from the main tourist locations, but close enough for an easy drive. Georges Pond House was perfect. 30-35 minutes to Bar Harbor, 40-45 minutes to Acadia. Even closer was 15 minutes to Ellsworth which also had a lot of restaurant options. Easy scenic drive. The waterfront view and peaceful surroundings were absolutely worth the drive to Acadia. The owner, Paul, was very welcoming and responsive to my messages prior to checking in, as well as a quick message to let him know we arrived. No other communication was necessary, we had zero issues. Highly recommend this property.

Rest & Relaxation

We enjoyed our stay at the Lakefront Home on George’s Pond. We especially enjoyed kayaking around the lake with the provided kayaks. The Eagle and Loons let us get very close in the kayaks. My husband spent many successful hours fishing in the lake both off the dock and from the kayak. The beds were very comfortable, place very clean, and great double shower heads in the upstairs bathroom. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We found a new favorite restaurant in Bass Harbor called Seafood Ketch. Pirate Mini golf was a favorite family event followed by Udderly Heaven homemade ice cream.

Beautiful view

Beautiful view, nice house, comfortable beds. The owner Paul was very responsive. If you want to go into Bar Harbor or Arcadia, the drive is a long way and it takes a good hour to get there from this property. The house doesn’t afford any privacy because of the openness of the lofts area. Also, there are no good restaurants nearby or grocery stores. Cell phone service at this property is very poor for those who like to stay connected. And in the fall, you cannot see the sunset from the dock it’s hidden behind the trees, which is one of the reasons why I rented this place. So if you just want to stay on the lake in the summer, I would recommend this place.

My wife (Ashlee) and I grew up in the coastal Maine area. We live on Mount Desert Island, and have rented vacation homes for the past 7 years (Chambers Oceanfront Cottages). We love where we live and we enjoy the water.

Why they chose this property

This property is our second home. We fell in love with the location and comfort it offers. We purchased George's Pond House in July, 2017 and have discovered a whole new way of relaxation and gratitude for nature and waterfront living. George's Pond house was built with no details spared, and luxury / comfort in mind. The House sits 25 feet from George's Pond with incredible Westerly views which capture full days of sun, and amazing sunsets. The house has a standby generator, reverse osmosis drinking water system, comfortable furniture, and breathtaking views. We love this property and are so thankful we can be part of such a wonderful community along George's Pond.

What makes this property unique

No need to rent kayaks or paddle boards because we have them ready for your use. We supply a propane grill with propane, wood fire pit, multiple entertainment / seating areas, and easy access off state roads.
