Riverside Cottage with luxurious wood fired hot tub in Ballater

Riverside Cottage was one of Ballater's earliest buildings and when Karl first visited it, it had gone to ruin. The property has now been comprehensively but sympathetically renovated and offers a cosy yet spacious home away from home with all the usual modern amenities & more in a great location to explore Ballater and all of Deeside.

The two-story house sleeps up to 6 & has a comfortable lounge with 2 large sofas & a woodburning stove, a spacious kitchen, a garden view room with dining & seating area, cloakroom, and toilet downstairs. The bathroom & 2 bedrooms can be found upstairs, a super king double room & a twin room, which can be converted to a super king, both have bedside cabinets and wardrobes. The bathroom is well sized and boasts a built-in shower & separate large double ended bath. A further 2 guests sleep on a sofa bed located in the room overlooking the garden.

The garden features an eco-friendly fire heated hot tub, a great way to unwind after exploring some of the local activities available; be it fishing, a distillery tour, hiking, biking or even skiing in the winter!

Ballater also offers a number of local restaurants and cafes for dining out, alternatively the cottage has a fully equipped kitchen to cook for yourselves & there is also an outside dining area in the secluded courtyard for those warmer days.

Wonderful stay in the mountains

We had a a great stay. The unit was like new. So pretty and comfortable and lots of room. Nice and quiet but great location. Short walk to the main part of town. We would stay here again!

Amazing riverside cottage!! Very clean and everything you could need. Good size bed and very comfortable. Great location and easy for touring around Ballater. Great, friendly communication with host. Would definitely love to stay again in future!!

Fabulous location to hit local bike trails. Lovely spot with shops, bike hire and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. Gorgeous property.

Brilliant place to stay in Ballater with a great hot tub

We had a fantastic stay in this cottage. It's in a great location with Ballater and the River Dee on your doorstep and very close to many other local attractions, e.g. Balmoral (5-10 min drive), Loch Miuck (great walking!) and is well situated to get out for the day over to Aberdeen, Inverness or Aviemore. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub (even though we had close to zero temps!) and enjoyed the prep involved, which was a great opportunity to enjoy a few beers whilst stoking the fire. Would recommend!

This was a great location close to everything in this quiet beautiful little town. We had a problem locking the door but just had to read the instruction the owners provided in their booklet. Lol. The townhouse had everything we needed very clean and comfy. We never got a chance to use the hot tub as we were too tired from our trip to Balmoral castle which was the highlight of our stay.

A wonderful stay

The property is lovely and bigger than I’d expected. We loved the hot tub and got to work on chopping the wood straight away. The house was very clean with everything we needed, although blackout blinds would help in the bedroom as it was light from 4am I do wish there was some parking at the property as there seemed to be so many empty spaces - but parking is free in the town. Ballater is beautiful and we loved our stay.

Lovely place!

We had a really lovely, relaxing time here. Everything we needed in the town, some great walks, comfy beds and everything in the house was high quality. Communication was good and we were well looked after. We will definitely book again. The hot tub didn't get hot even after 7 hours keeping the fire going as it was too cold outside, so we didn't get to use it, which was a shame, but didn't spoil our trip overall.

Lovely Ballater Cottage

Liked the cottage immensely and dont hesitate to recommend it. Such a great location in Ballater, walkable to restaurants and walks and shoppes. The coffee machine was way too fancy for us so didnt use. Yes, property mgr was responsive and quick to ssnd instructions but really, just having a simpler one or a French press and many guests would prefer the easy approach. Parking is ok close by once you figure out your choices (almost on bridge; otherchoice spots never available). No spices but plenty of good cookware. Loved the patio and den or living area for reading or watching tv. Nice bathrooms and furnishings. Once we figured out the front door system, apparently a Scotland or UK method, we were able to lock up (maybe instructions on arrival info for us Americans). So excellent with some tiny suggestions.

Nice clean property with plenty to do nearby and very well equipped. Lots of access to great walks and food. Only minor issue was the sofa's - both definitely need replacing soon and way to low.

Tolles Haus in wunderschöner Landschaft

Dieses Haus liegt in einer sehr ruhigen Straße und bietet alles, was man benötigt. Ballater ist eine nette kleine Stadt, die man gerne öfter besuchen mag. Die Landschaft und nahen Wanderwege sind einfach nur Traumhaft. Und die Besitzer wie immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit!
