Taking a deep breath and enjoying this amazing view!

This spacious cottage is set back on 0.6 acres with a wonderful view of the Elizabeth River, on a secluded peninsula. It is a very special, unique, private and cozy place right on the river. The new sunroom is a wonderful place to enjoy the warmth of the winter sunrise. We offer:
- A clean beautiful waterfront home
- A beautiful fireplace
- Fresh organic eggs, teas, coffee, juice, snacks... while watching the sunrise over the dock
- WiFi internet and cable TV with HBO
- Great bluetooth speaker system for movies and music
- Luxury bath linens
- New waterview sunroom
- Dish washer/Washer/Dryer

We have registered the business with the city of Norfolk, and the city strictly only allows 2 guests each stay since the place has only one bedroom. For safety, the city also requires us to have a camera in the parking area.

We respond very quickly to your inquiries. We would rent out the place as short-term during January and February. We need a break too 😊.

The cottage interior was recently renovated including a new kitchen and floors. The kitchen is fully equipped including a Keurig coffee machine for your morning coffee or tea to enjoy the sunrise over the water. There is a washer and dryer right in the sunroom for our guests' laundry. There is plenty of parking next to the cottage. We have recently had the back porch closed in with new big sliding windows around. Our guests now can still enjoy the beautiful water view during colder months from the new beautiful sunroom. Providing a great service to our guests is our main goal. We have been working hard on making the place nicer and nicer, improving service to make our guests’ stays more memorable, and always being available to help our guests with any concerns or questions. A 2 night minimum stay required; we only rent out the place for the entire long weekend, Friday through Monday. Thank you!

We have used a part of the money from our rentals to put in an oyster reef along the bank. This will help to improve the ecosystem in the Chesapeake Bay in the long run. Thanks for your stays and many thanks to The Elizabeth River Project.

According to Travelandleisure Magazine, top 20 America’s favorite cities in 2017 were rated and Norfolk has made number 1 this year. It was number 4 in 2016. The cottage is just 5 miles from downtown Norfolk and within walking distance of the Ingleside light rail stop where you can get an all day pass for $4.50 including use of the 10 minutes ferry to Portsmouth, another city right cross from downtown Norfolk on the other side of the river.

Lovely Retreat

We loved our stay at the cottage. Our first meeting with Andy and Mike as though we had known them a long time. They are so nice. Andy gave us a thorough tour of cottage and how everything worked. Extremely clean, well equipped, comfortable, and stocked with small amount of food, snacks, and beverages. The view of the Elizabeth River was wonderful. Will definitely return

Perfect Romantic Spot

This cottage was perfect for my partner and I to get away for the weekend. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The host was attentive and quick to respond if we needed anything, but otherwise left us alone. I hope to have an opportunity to rent again from this hodt

A wonderful Christmas at the cottage

We had a wonderful Christmas at the cottage! It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, much to our surprise! The fridge was well-stocked with organic eggs, juices, soft drinks, beer and wine in addition to many snacks. Our hosts thought of everything imaginable to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The setting was calm and relaxing. We will be back!

Cottage was very clean and lots of privacy. Relaxing sunroom with nice view of the river. Our host was very nice and provided great recommendations for things to do nearby. Easy walk to light rail station to get to downtown destinations.

What a beautiful cottage on the Elizabeth River. The hosts Andy and Michael were amazing and thought of every single detail possible! We spent a lot of time on the deck viewing the water and even more time sitting in the sunroom! The fridge was stocked with drinks and snacks for us. The bathroom had any toiletry one could ask for! We absolutely loved the home!

Perfect Cottage by the Elizabeth River

My husband and I stayed at this cottage for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were met with such kindness by Andy and Michael upon arrival. The cottagw is clean and so relaxing. The provided snacks and drinks were a plus. The patio with reclining chairs was so relaxing and provided a wonderful view of the river with no issues from the weather. This home is small, but absolutely beautiful and perfect for two people. We will definitely be back!!

The Perfect Place!

We were absolutely delighted with everything about our stay in this beautiful, waterfront cottage; starting with the hospitality of the owners. They make sure you have everything you need and also remind you to let them know if you need anything else! But we had it all: a cozy, comfortable cottage with outstanding amenities; a hammock and swing for relaxing by the dockside; and wonderful hosts who provided helpful tips and recommendations about what to see and do in the local area. Perfect relaxing getaway

The best vrbo we have stayed in! Andy is a gem! He met us with the warmest welcome and showed us around. Cottage has everything you need- stocked kitchen, shampoo/conditioner/soap, towels, blankets, cozy furniture, beautiful scenery, book of great recommendations! It was extremely clean and decorated so nicely! Perfect spot to take a book and read by the water or in the sunroom on colder days. Short drive to explore town! Easy check in/check out process and hosts communicate quickly! Can’t wait to come back!

We want to move in!

I say that in jest, but sincerely, to wake up and end each day with this view would be absolutely incredible. Everything you could possibly need in addition to the beautiful view is here; the owners have literally thought of everything. To stay here is to disconnect and relax. We spent lots of time on the dock, enjoying the sight and sound of water. Convenient to many nice restaurants and other tourist attractions like the USS Wisconsin and Portsmouth Naval Museum. If you are coming to this area and want the best of all worlds, this is your place. Amazing hosts, location, and amenities.

Private Paradise!

This place was everything I expected and then some! Michael and Andy were the best host ever! They went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great visit. This is located in a residential area but when you go out back you feel like you're in your own private paradise. Beautiful scenery. The cottage is perfect for Two. I soaked in 6 glorious days and nights. We definitely would recommend. Thank you both for your generosity! You thought of everything!!

True Tranquility

We just had a wonderful stay at Kings Cottage. There’s too many good things to say about it! It’s very clean and SO ADORABLE!!! Being located right on the Elizabeth River, it is so peaceful and tranquil. We enjoyed sitting on the dock, or snoozing on the hammock. The enclosed patio was great for the rainy days. The cottage had modern conveniences like hi-tech HVAC systems, wifi, streamable TV, and sound bar. The kitchen was modern and well stocked with eating and cooking utensils. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the bathroom was stocked super thick soft towels to use. The best part of our stay was the kindness and graciousness of our hosts, Andy and Micheal. They provided about everything to make our stay wonderful, including a fridge filled with refreshments and fresh bagels. Andy gives great suggestions for restaurants and local events. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hidden gem in Norfolk if you plan to visit the Hampton Roads area.

Perfect Property for 2 People

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at this wonderful cottage. We were warmly greeted upon arrival by Michael and Andy, who took the time to make sure we knew all the features of the house. They also gave us a great overview of the Norfolk area. The cottage was immaculate! And so well equipped! Appliances were top of the line, including the grill, which my wife said was the best she’s ever used! Towels and linens were excellent quality, as were the toiletries provided. The kitchen was so well stocked with cookwear, dishes, snacks, beverages, spices and other things needed for meal prep. There was also a great variety of coffee and teas. The grounds were lovely, including the hammock, swing and chairs on the dock. We especially enjoyed sitting in the recliners on the back porch with the windows open, feeling a nice breeze and watching the family of geese, with 3 little ones, come to visit each morning. All in all we had a wonderful stay. One of the nicest of the many HomeAway and AirBnB properties we’ve rented over the years. Would highly recommend!

Peaceful oasis on the river

This was a restful and wonderful getaway and this riverfront cottage was just the perfect place. Andy and Michael were the best and most responsive hosts and made sure we had everything we needed and checked in frequently to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Perfect getaway location.

Owners were super responsive prior to and during the visit. They take a lot of pride in the house. Lots of small extras like drinks in the fridge, snacks, toiletries, etc. the porch overlooking the river was so peaceful. They gave us great eating recommendations as well. I will absolutely rent from them again if we ever return.

I am a Marine engineer, and I enjoy living in this waterfront neighborhood. I have lived in this neighborhood where the cottage is located for more than 25 years. My co-host and I have recently bought this vacation house, and we enjoy hosting guests and showing them the area that we love. There is so much to see and do around the Norfolk area. Getting to Virginia beach is easy, and the Norfolk International airport is only 5 miles away. Thank you for giving us a chance to host you, and we are looking forward to accommodating you and making your stay memorable.

It is a beautiful waterfront cottage right on the cove. Guests will enjoy their coffee in the morning watching sunrise, birds, and dolphins from the private dock. We also offer long stays with a discount for weekly and monthly rentals, and we have had the offered price on the website.

We have just got a duel gas/charcoal grill for our guests.
