Relaxing Week
We had a relaxing week in this charming, peaceful property. Even though the weather was snowy and bitterly cold we were cosy and slept very well in the very comfortable bed. Lovely walks along the lake from the door. Close to Keswick yet rural, with splendid views from the kitchen/dining area and lounge.

A peaceful location in a beautiful area
We had a lovely stay at Deer Close Cottage in Keswick in July. It was a nostalgic return for us as we actually stayed next door 16 years previously when it offered B&B's!
This is a perfect cottage for 2, nestled on the edge of quiet woods, offering stunning views of Catbells opposite and just a 5 minute walk to the lake. We had everything we needed for a relaxing evening after active days walking and cycling. Warm, quiet and comfortable with generous living space and close to Keswick.

An Idyllic holiday experience
Very comfortable cottage where everything was thoughtfully provided. Excellent peaceful location with wildlife visiting outside the backdoor: a pair of pheasants, a deer and variety of birds were regulars. The nearby footpath enabled us to reach the lake easily for walks, bike rides, swims and boat trips as well as easy access to Keswick town. All enhanced by the beautiful weather. Communication was efficient, easy and informative. Very friendly and helpful when I called at late notice to book an extra night.

Delightful first stay at Deer Close Cottage.
Delightful first stay at Deer Close Cottage. Very comfortable, well equipped and great location with lovely views from the property. We were able to walk into Keswick along the footpaths, yet still felt tucked away in the privacy of the countryside. Local wildlife was fun to observe and enhanced the holiday. It was very quiet and peaceful, the facilities were all that we needed and it was especially nice to be able to soak in the bath after a day of fell walking.
I have already shared details of the cottage with a friend who is planning a trip to the Lake District next year.
A couple of (minor) points -
i) the sofa is quite soft and offers little support, although the scatter cushions did help.
ii) one of the saucepans required cleaning as something had been burnt on the base of the pan and a small frying pan seems to be losing its non-stick surface.

Absolutely Perfect!
We stayed at Deer Close Cottage primarily due to it's location in the Borrowdale Valley. We are 'bagging' the Wainwrights and the cottage is close enough to tick a few more off. It is only a short and very lovely walk into Keswick for a 'down' day and food/drink.
The cottage is as beautiful as it looks on the website in a stunning, peaceful location. We were so pleased and the cottage far exceeded our expectations. It is extremely well equipped and so cosy, a home from home and not compact, such lovely space. There are lovely views from all rooms, perfect if staying in on a rainy day. Wildlife is abundant if you like watching birds/deer/cows, just bring a sack of bird food you will be constantly entertained! Lying in bed at night you can hear owls in the adjacent woods.... bliss. The owners are perfect hosts. Deer close cottage is situated in the immaculate grounds of their beautiful home and contactable if you have any questions otherwise you are left in total privacy. The terraces to the front and year are a blissful place to relax on a sunny day. To summarise, this cottage is 'Absolutely Perfect'! We will definitely be returning.

Hi Rebecca,
Thank you for your lovely review of Deer Close Cottage. Staying at Deer Close Cottage means you can have the best of both worlds on your holiday. Situated on the outskirts next to the woods means you get to see lots of wildlife, such as deer, pheasants, squirrels and owls but you are close enough to walk down to the lake or in to the town centre where there are plenty of quirky shops and restaurants. We hope we can welcome you back again soon!
