UNIVERSITY DROP OFF

Dropping our son off at York Uni decided to make a weekend of it. Nice place 5 minutes from city centre, 10 mins from Clifford Tower and Frederick Street Car Parks. Bus stop virtually right outside the door and the park adjoining York Racecourse is over the road. Pubs/Restaurants are a fair walk away - the property itself was quirky. A re purposed Victorian House turned into flats - no. 7 was on the second floor up what I assume was the original staircase. The rooms were modern, clean, light and airy. The beds and bedding excellent. Long hallway and another set of stairs down to main living room (which was huge) and the main bedroom. Slight criticism, the main bedroom did feel a bit overly cluttered but again was clean, light and airy with a huge window and excellent curtains to keep out the light. Slept well. Kitchen has a stowaway table, but no stools/chairs - tried the ones from the living room but they were too low. A folding stool/chair or two maybe the answer. One thing we were not sure how the hot water boiler tap worked -did work it out with a bit of trial and error, but I think clearer instructions are needed for boiler tap novices. Overall nice place, quirky and well-appointed would and probably will stay again.

A very relaxing stay

The apartment is beautiful, with a great view of the racecourse over the road. We loved the furnishings throughout and the quiet. We did find the bed very hard though but that might be down to personal preference rather than a fault. One thing that was not in the instruction folder is that there is a boiling hot water tap and how to use it. We did enjoy the walk in to town each day, although there is a very good bus service if you prefer. All in all, we enjoyed our four nights stay and found it well worth the money.

Stylish and quiet with excellent access to the city centre

This a lovely apartment in a quiet area of beautiful houses. There is a park at back and the race course opposite. Buses into York centre are frequent and take just a couple of minutes. The apartment is stylish and well equipped, but we would have liked a microwave. It’s quiet and private. Stays were very helpful when we had a problem with the keys.

Lovely mansion apartment needcto address heating in living room

The property was beautifully furnished and clean. We were very pleased on arrival with the place and had a nice stay. Our main complaint was with the radiators in the living room. They did not heat up properly, one did not heat up at all and the other only fractionally. The room is a large mansion room with high ceilings, as a result we found we were unable to sit comfortably in the living room and had to drag chairs out to the hall for warmth. Stays York did send someone round with a blow heater which helped but for a room of that size still did not heat the room effectively.

Ideal Location for York Racecourse & York City Centre

A very quirky clean apartment, every thing you need to have a homely stay. The light through the windows with the sun is outstanding on a summers day. Nice to have the OS map supplied for the local area to do some of the local walks. Very close to York Racecourse and York City Centre.
