About this property
2 Bed in Ponsworthy (oc-s30706)
Nestled in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, this charming chocolate-box cottage offers a peaceful retreat amid breathtaking natural beauty. The wood burner and enclosed garden offer a haven of relaxation for four guests after exploring the superb trails and dramatic landscapes of the Devon countryside. Dogs are welcome, no more than two please.
Before entering this historic cottage, pause to admire its thatched roof, stone exterior, and vibrant flower baskets – it''s been featured on many book covers and postcards! The countryside charm continues as you step into the open-plan lounge/diner. The Chesterfield sofas and flicker of the wood burner create the perfect atmosphere for a cosy night in with films and buckets of popcorn. For the cooks of the group, the fully equipped, shaker-style kitchen is perfect for whipping up family feasts before you dine around the four-seater table back in the open-plan living space. The two sumptuous bedrooms – a king-size and a double – are nestled underneath the eaves of the retreat and are a joy to climb into at the end of each busy day. Both bedrooms share use of the stylish family bathroom. Each morning, nurse your piping-hot cup of tea out in the split-level garden, where guests can watch their pups run free or relax in the sunshine on the outdoor seating. Find on-street parking for one car.
Keen walkers will be captivated by the labyrinth of walking routes available from the front door of the property. The Two Moor Way passes the accommodation and provides guests with bracing walks through ancient villages and wild moorland, or enjoy a slower pace along the River Webburn which is also on your doorstep. Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a lovely village and can be discovered just 2.5 miles away for fantastic eateries and shops. Hop in the car, and you can be on the glistening coastline of South Devon, where popular destinations include Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish (20 miles).
