About this property
2 Bed in Broadwoodkelly (oc-j31818)
A charming, thatched period property in the village of Broadwoodkelly, this is ideal for a couple or a family looking for a restful holiday in West Devon. The cottage is just 2.5 miles from pretty Winkleigh, which boasts traditional pubs, a 15th-century church, a tearoom and a farm shop. Walkers can explore the network of quiet footpaths around the village. Family fun abounds at the diverse attractions at the War Horse Valley Country Farm Park (5 miles), including feeding the animals and tractor rides around the farm. Head to Woolley Animals (5.5 miles) to meet alpacas, goats and cute Valais Blacknose sheep.
Enter this characterful two-storey cottage and you’re greeted with the wonderfully cosy lounge/diner, full of atmosphere and original features that blend beautifully with contemporary creature comforts. This downstairs lounge offers a plush leather sofa beneath a low, beamed ceiling, perfect for relaxing in front of the wood burner. A cleverly hand-crafted dining table provides a lovely touch at mealtimes. The compact, country-style kitchen has all you need to whip up delicious meals. To the rear of the cottage is the walk-in shower room. Head up the steep stairs, reaching low door frames as you enter a king-size bedroom with ceiling beams. This spacious room leads to a small bunk bedroom, perfect for young children who are happy to sleep beneath the eaves. Outside, you'll find an enclosed shingle garden with bistro furniture. Private parking is available for one car.
The historic market towns of Okehampton (10 miles) and Barnstaple (20 miles) are both must-visit destinations, and each is a gateway to walking or cycling the famous off-road Tarka Trail. Okehampton is also a gateway to the Dartmoor National Park (11 miles), where you can hike the tors, hop on the Dartmoor Railway between Okehampton and Meldon or cycle the Granite Way.
