About this property

Mill House - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

As you enter the property via the porch at the front you are instantly greeted into the heart of the house. The hallway leads to different areas of the property and retains original features with the wooden block flooring.

Heading left off the hallway is the spacious and bright living room decorated with neutral colours and highlighting the original exposed beams. There are two two-seater sofas and a coffee table which surround the cosy log burner. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a good book, them the window seat provides just that with views over the garden and towards the village.

Straight ahead off the hallway is the large utility space and downstairs toilet. Fitted with plenty of storage, a sink and a washer/ dryer, it's the ideal place to store any outdoor kit. The stable doors lead to another porch off the rear of the property which will be fantastic for muddy boots after a rainy walk in the fells.

To the right of the hallway is a spacious entertaining room with views to the front and the rear of the property. The original features shine through here too with the fireplace and the tiled flooring.

Off the entertainment space is the large kitchen diner. The kitchen has been newly fitted with clean, white marble worktops which gives it a modern feeling. The high-vaulted ceilings add to the feelings of space and the large windows to the rear of the room allow you to take in the beautiful garden and the fells beyond and the door allows access to the garden. The kitchen consists of a fridge/ freezer, oven and electric hob, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. There is also a pod coffee machine for your use during your stay. The kitchen also has plenty of storage for your belongings and a breakfast bar that sits 3 people. The dining table can sit 6 comfortably
The beautiful, enclosed garden wraps around the property and is a sun trap on a beautiful Lakeland day. To the front of the property is the driveway that comfortably fits two cars. It's a fantastic space to sit and enjoy either your morning coffee or a drink in the evening whilst enjoying the views of the river and the fells beyond.

Moving upstairs, the master bedroom is the first door you come to on your left. The modern, neutral decor continues in this room, with the modern rattan furniture and the curved feature wall creating a bohemian feel. The are windows to the front and rear of the property providing stunning views. The room also benefits from a newly fitted en suite with white marble décor. There is a further two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Both bedrooms have a built-in closet to store your belongings. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, sink and WC.

Mill House - new year

Warm, clean, well equipped, lovely Christmas decorations, great location, sufficient parking, secure bike store (once the key was delivered), plenty of room for people and their gear - and bonus points for supplying a tea pot (x2). Pretty perfect really - very well done. So impressed we have booked to come back. Ps just needs an ash shovel and a decent dish cloth

Hi, Allison! We're so glad to hear this. We're always especially pleased when guests choose to return! Mill House really is a special property, with lots of features you don't often find in Lake District accommodation: a games room, pod coffee machine, and parking for two cars, to name a few. We'd love to welcome you back, it really has been a pleasure. I'll make sure your suggestions are passed on to the owner too! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

What a find

We had a fabulous short break at Mill house. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and in a great location. It was lovely to come home to this beautiful warm house after autumnal walks. We loved the pool table and relaxing in the kitchen diner. Close to 2 pubs and the village shop/tearoom where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be back.

Beautiful property in a wonderful location

A family member had recommended this property and we were not disappointed. A lovely house with a large kitchen diner with great views over he hills. A nice sunny garden with a stream across the road is a great place to sit for a morning coffee. Private parking is a plus. The village is charming and the house is only a few yards from two pubs, a restaurant, the village store/tearoom and a cafe. Keswick is only a few minutes away by car. The booking and instructions were easy and the only difficulty was some confusion over bin collections, which was swiftly resolved over the phone by the staff cat the office. We plan to return next year.

Mill House - historic charm and so restful in peaceful Braithwaite

We are so pleased that we managed to find the beautiful Mill House. As a family we had a fabulous time in this lovely house which was perfect in every way. The house was spotlessly clean in every room with comfortable beds, quality linen, tasteful soft furnishings and a very large kitchen area with ample space for dining. There was so much attention to making the experience home from home and beyond, including the starter packs and the excellent communications and advice from Keswick Cottages. The views were idyllic - from the kitchen window we could see Skiddaw and in the evening the sun shone through the large windows. We frequented the local pubs and the restaurant and had a warm welcome everywhere with great cuisine and well stocked bars. We will definitely be returning to Mill House and have great memories. Thank you.

Fabulous holiday home from home

We were delighted upon arrival at Mill House, which is presented to a high standard and is well equipped. Everything was brand new - kitchen, kitchen equipment, carpets, bedding, towels. Thoughtful touches such as a range of books for local walks (lakes, hills ridges, coffee shops) and starter kitchen packs for coffee, tea and cleaning. There weren’t any photos of the games room so it was a very nice surprise to have a pool / table tennis table as well as a range of games and books. Location was ideal for walks from the door. The Coledale Inn (dog friendly) is a one minute walk and serves good pub with a choice of ales and wines. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch there. Jaspers Cafe (also dog friendly) is also worth a visit for a tasty breakfast with friendly service. The Keswick Cottages App was also really helpful with all the information we needed.

I cannot remember enjoying a self catering property so much

What a perfect experience. Quietly located (no traffic noise) in lovely Braithwaite with 2 of the bedrooms looking out over the adjacent pretty stream . The whole house is light and airy and there are effectively 2 places where you can chill out in the evenings - the traditional cosy lounge but also a large sitting and dining area adjacent to the kitchen which I particularly liked as it was so bright during the day. The kitchen is well equipped although I did struggle a bit with the induction cooker . I had to look up instructions online - it would have been nice to get a short hard copy of how it operates. well equipped laundry room. Bedrooms light and airy and very comfy beds. Short walk to 2 pubs and a restaurant or two. There was only one niggle - the sink in the en suite is so tiny you absolutely cannot wash in it (although the shower is lovely) and I had to wash in the main bathroom. I think this would be a problem if 6 people were in occupation. Otherwise . It really was perfect and I cannot remember staying in better holiday accommodation. - shame about the dreadful weather all week though!
