About the host
Hosted by Alexandra Docherty
Stronachlachar is a magical place, it is the birthplace of tourism in Scotland, With sweeping views of Loch Katherine and seeing the Sir Walter Scott steamship sail by every day during the season it is a pleasure to enjoy Wattie Cottage as your home from home. Wattie Cottage, Stronachlachar Lodge and Scott Cottage were my holiday home as a child so it is just a dream come true to now own them and host.
Why they chose this property
As a family, we spent magical weeks over the summer holidays forging fond childhood memories which have lasted a lifetime. Today, this is where we call home; the scenic beauty of Loch Katrine and the surrounding area is breathtaking offering escapism and a chance to breath and reflect. Tranquil, sometime moody, no two days ever look the same. No wonder this was the birthplace of Scottish tourism.
What makes this property unique
A beautifully curated Arts & Crafts house, sympathetically restore with a modern twist. The level of comfort offers a home from home. Spacious lounge, with original fireplace surround with log burner for cosy nights in. Four bedrooms - 3 doubles, one with en suite and 1 twin. 3 bathrooms, plus additional wc. We are a short 25m stroll from the shores of the loch. This is the perfect base whether you wish to venture further afield or take the opportunity to explore locally trails on foot or by bike.
